What are the responsibilities and job description for the Assistant Vice President - Merchant Services Operations position at Esquire Bank?
The Assistant Vice President will be responsible for the operational support functions of the bank’s Merchant Services division. This role is a leadership position reporting directly to the Managing Director, ISO Relationship Officer.
Job Responsibilities:
- Manage Bank Identification Numbers (BIN) and Independent Sales Organizations (ISO) conversions from inception to completion.
- Obtain BIN/ICAs and initial set ups for new or converting customers.
- Answer and track customer service requests for our merchant business and work with the ISOs/Agents/Merchants directly to resolve issues and requests.
- Provide ISO support to our business partners by coordinating and managing projects with internal and external team members.
- Identify operational inefficiencies, improve processes, automate tasks, and develop new solutions.
- Operate within processor and gateway systems and perform data entry for new merchant accounts, boarding support, and account maintenance requests.
- Work directly with processors, platform partners, gateways, and third-party providers to create accounts and successfully board and activate them.
- Work with ISOs/Agents/Merchants on boarding edits reported to Esquire by the card brands.
- Research and troubleshoot issues for our partners and merchants on both internal and external systems and POS equipment.
- Assist in setting up users and approving requests in card brand systems.
- Ensure that all activities are performed in compliance with federal, state and Bank Secrecy Act regulatory requirements.
Skills & Competencies
- Bachelor’s degree preferred and/or relevant advanced education.
- Payment’s industry knowledge is necessary with specific knowledge of payment processors and platforms.
- Proven operator: 3 years of experience in payment processing boarding, deployment, customer service, implementation, POS terminals and gateways.
- Excellent analytical and decision-making skills. Ability to demonstrate a high level of attention to detail.
- Proven ability and experience in implementing large strategic initiatives with significant technology and operational components.
- Strong sense of prioritization & ability to execute against deliverables. Able to take personal accountability for projects & issue resolution.
- Energetic self-starter with proven business maturity and professionalism.
- Outstanding project, organization, and time management skills.
- Demonstrated ability to successfully implement and manage complex initiatives involving multiple constituents.
- Proven track record of driving results and managing multiple demands, competing priorities, and setbacks with demonstrated composure and resilience in a demanding and dynamic environment.
- Superior written and oral communication skills.
- Ability to assess results and identify and translate areas of opportunity into tactical actions and business strategies.

- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite products.

Full time – M-F 8:30 am - 5:30 pm
Estimated Salary Range:
- $100,000 - $150,000 / year
- Compensation may vary based on education, skills, qualifications and/or expertise.
