Responsibilities
- Perform comprehensive diagnostics on diesel engines, transmissions, hydraulic systems, air brakes, and electrical systems using schematics and diagnostic tools.
- Conduct repairs on heavy equipment such as excavators, cranes, forklifts, tractors, and construction machinery to ensure safety and efficiency.
- Fabricate parts or components as needed using welding, cutting, and hand tools to support equipment repair and customization projects.
- Troubleshoot equipment issues through electrical diagnostics and mechanical inspections, identifying root causes swiftly.
- Maintain detailed service records, complete repair reports, and document maintenance activities for compliance and future reference.
- Assist with equipment assembly, installation, and testing to ensure proper operation before deployment on job sites.
- Support customer service efforts by providing expert advice on equipment maintenance and troubleshooting to clients or team members.
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Diesel Mechanic with dealership experience preferred; strong background in heavy equipment maintenance is essential.
- Extensive knowledge of diesel engine diagnostics, brake repair, suspension systems, HVAC systems, hydraulics, and electrical troubleshooting.
- Skilled in the use of power tools, hand tools, welding equipment, and schematics for precise repairs and fabrication tasks.
- Ability to perform heavy lifting safely and operate heavy equipment such as excavators or cranes when necessary.
- Familiarity with OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) parts and specifications for various machinery including Caterpillar and other brands.
- Strong mechanical knowledge combined with excellent problem-solving skills; able to work independently or as part of a team.
- Excellent customer service skills with the ability to communicate technical information clearly to clients or team members.
