About the Role
The Sealant Operations Supervisor is responsible for supervising and coordinating the activities of production workers involved in the impregnation processes. The Sealant Operations Supervisor role ensures adherence to quality standards, safety regulations, and production schedules, while maintaining expertise in chemical processes and regulatory compliance. The ideal candidate brings hands-on experience with epoxy compounds, varnishes, oils, high-temperature insulation, and other specialty materials.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise production employees in the encapsulation area, overseeing daily operations to ensure efficiency and product quality.
- Inspect products to verify conformance to specifications; oversee machine setup and adjustment.
- Interpret specifications, blueprints, and job orders; assign duties to team members accordingly.
- Help create and maintain clear work instructions, with Production Engineering, to meet production goals and deadlines.
- Provide on-the-job training, performance evaluations, and coaching for a team of 1–15 employees.
- Ensure calibration of measuring tools and equipment to meet quality standards.
- Recommend improvements in processes, equipment, and work conditions to increase efficiency and safety.
- Coordinate activities with other supervisors and departments to meet production targets.
- Maintain timekeeping and production records; requisitions and inspect materials as needed.
- Ensure a safe and compliant work environment by interpreting and enforcing company policies and safety standards.
- Perform hands-on tasks as necessary to support production goals.
- Support employee motivation and morale through effective leadership and communication.
- Occasional overtime may be required based on production demands.
- Ensure all limited shelf life product is removed and replaced upon expiration.
Required Qualifications
- Associate’s degree or equivalent combination of education and extensive work experience (3–5 years minimum in a production or chemical processing environment).
- Must be able to meet physical requirements including standing, walking, lifting (up to 50 lbs), using hands, reaching, kneeling, and crouching.
- Must be able to meet vision requirements including close, distance, color, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
Preferred Qualifications
- Strong knowledge of epoxy compounds, plastics, varnishes, oils, high-temp insulation, silicones, rubber compounding, and electroplating.
- Proven ability to manage people and production timelines in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
- Competency in reading blueprints, process specifications, interpreting technical specifications, and applying them to practical tasks.
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities, particularly in resolving production challenges.
- Capable of adapting to varied and complex situations with limited supervision.
- Effective communication skills – verbal, written, and interpersonal – with team members, management, and regulatory bodies.
- Ability to use hand tools, torque tools, calipers and measuring tools to confirm product meets the drawing
- Understands ratios of mixing materials
- Demonstrated ability to handle interdepartmental coordination and implement creative solutions to unique production challenges.
- Able to work independently and guide operations with minimal supervision.
- Capable of managing priorities, motivating teams, and influencing operational efficiency.
- Experience in recommending and implementing performance standards, work procedures, and cost control measures.
- Authority to recommend hiring, promotion, disciplinary actions, and salary changes.
