Service Technician – Card Readers (Temporary)

Pay Rate: $24-25/hour
Duration: 3–6 months, with possible extensions
Start Date: Immediate / ASAP
Work Hours: Monday–Friday, 8:00am–5:00pm (will discuss flexibility)
Position Overview
Conduent Transportation Solutions is seeking a temporary Service Technician to support fare collection operations out of our Somerset, NJ location. This hands-on role focuses on the installation, removal, and servicing of card readers used in transit fare collection equipment. The technician will apply working knowledge of electronics to keep mission-critical equipment operating at maximum uptime.
Essential Job Duties
- Install, remove, and service card readers on fare collection equipment
- Detect and resolve component wear and tear
- Troubleshoot hardware, electrical, electronic, communication, and functionality issues
- Respond promptly to work orders dispatched through the Work Order Management System
- Assess and troubleshoot newly installed equipment
- Maintain inventory of replacement parts, tools, and supplies in a company-assigned vehicle or local storage location
- Document service activities and maintain accurate records
- Communicate regularly with the Manager and Customer to resolve work order issues and report new problems
- Use standard hand tools and technical manuals
- Assignments may be floating or stationary
Qualifications
Education & Experience:
- High School Diploma required
- Electronics experience required
- Basic understanding of electrical components
- Equivalent work experience in computer science/electronics, military, or technical training a plus
- Able to learn new equipment with basic training
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift and carry at least 45 pounds independently
- Ability to climb ladders frequently and safely for equipment access
General Requirements:
- Flexible schedule
- Valid driver's license
- Team player with professional appearance and customer service orientation
