We are seeking a dependable and safety-focused Recycling Facility Sorter to join our materials recovery team. The Sorter is responsible for manually sorting recyclable materials from a moving conveyor belt, conducting basic quality control, and maintaining a clean and safe work environment.
Requirements
Material Sorting:
- Identify and separate recyclable materials such as plastics, metals, cardboard, and ?????paper on a fast-moving conveyor belt.
- Remove non-recyclable or contaminated items to ensure material quality
- Inspect materials for cleanliness and contamination.
- Ensure that materials meet facility and market quality standards before further processing.
- Maintain cleanliness of the work area including floors, conveyor belts, and sorting stations.
- Follow all safety policies and wear required personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Report any equipment malfunctions or safety hazards to a supervisor immediately.
- Communicate clearly with team members and supervisors.
- Assist in other areas of the facility as needed, including maintenance and general labor tasks.
Qualifications:
- Ability to stand for extended periods and perform repetitive tasks in a fast-paced environment.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.
- Comfortable working in a noisy, dusty, and sometimes odorous environment.
- Reliable attendance and punctuality are essential.
- Previous experience in recycling or warehouse work is a plus but not required.
- Indoor/outdoor facility: may be exposed to variable temperatures.
- Shift work, including early mornings, evenings, weekends as required.
