About the Role:

The Low Voltage Technician plays a critical role in the installation, maintenance, and repair of low voltage systems including security, fire alarms, telecommunications, and data networks. This position ensures that all systems operate efficiently and comply with industry standards and safety regulations. The technician will collaborate closely with project managers, electricians, and clients to deliver high-quality solutions tailored to specific site requirements. Attention to detail and problem-solving skills are essential to diagnose issues and implement effective fixes promptly. Ultimately, the role contributes to the safety, connectivity, and operational success of residential, commercial, and industrial facilities across the United States.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
  • Proven experience in low voltage system installation and maintenance.
  • Basic understanding of electrical and electronic principles related to low voltage systems.
  • Ability to read technical drawings and follow safety protocols.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Certification in low voltage systems such as NICET, BICSI, or equivalent.
  • Experience with network cabling standards and fiber optic installation.
  • Familiarity with local and national electrical codes and regulations.
  • Strong customer service and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.

Responsibilities:

  • Install, test, and maintain low voltage systems such as security cameras, access control, fire alarms, and structured cabling.
  • Perform routine inspections and troubleshooting to identify and resolve system malfunctions or failures.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, technical diagrams, and manufacturer instructions to ensure accurate system setup.
  • Collaborate with team members and clients to plan and execute projects within established timelines and budgets.
  • Maintain accurate records of work performed, including service reports, inventory logs, and compliance documentation.

Skills:

The required skills enable the technician to effectively install and maintain complex low voltage systems by interpreting technical documentation and applying electrical knowledge. Troubleshooting skills are essential for diagnosing system issues and implementing timely solutions to minimize downtime. Communication skills facilitate clear interaction with clients and team members, ensuring project requirements are understood and met. Preferred skills such as certification and knowledge of fiber optics enhance the technician’s ability to handle advanced installations and comply with industry standards. Together, these skills ensure the technician can deliver reliable, safe, and high-quality low voltage services in diverse work environments.
