About the Role:
This position is responsible for the production of various types of transmission, civil/structural and distribution drawings from inception to completion.
What You Will Be Doing:
- Set up drawings in accordance with specified CAD standards
- Prepare drawing plots relative to project requirements and/or deliverables as directed by designers
- Incorporate redlines or markups to plan drawings and figures quickly and accurately per engineering reviews
- Perform basic area and volume calculations
- Utilize existing aerial photography and survey data within drawing sets
- Illustrate existing survey locations and boundaries
- Create sitemaps with utilities for use in design plans
- Prepare basic design drawings and final construction drawings based on various engineering designs including plan and profiles, state and county permits, railroad permits, DOT MOT plans, construction access plans, control house plans, environmental permits
What You Bring:
- Graduate of an accredited high school or possess an acceptable equivalency diploma (required)
- Graduate of a 2-year program in computer aided drafting and design techniques from an accredited college or technical school (preferred)
- 1-4 years of drafting/design experience using AutoCAD or MicroStation
- Proficiency in AutoCAD (required)
- Basic knowledge of Civil 3D or DOT environment (preferred)
- Prior experience in civil design and site development (preferred)
- A valid driver's license and driving record acceptable to our company insurance provider is a condition of initial and continued employment (required)
- Ability to work in a safe manner and obey safety regulations at all times
- Practical knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel
- Ability to prioritize, organize and multi-task effectively
- Capable of reading and interpreting engineering plans
- Skilled in identifying discrepancies between drawings and specifications
- Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing
- Candidate must be able to pass a drug screen, background check, and have a satisfactory driving record in accordance with the company’s driving (MVR) policy
