JOB SUMMARY
The Driver/Assistant will be responsible for completing the majority of deliveries performed by Escuela Viva Meal Delivery and may be asked to assist in the kitchen alongside other EVMD staff members. This team member will spend most of their time collecting meals from the central kitchen, delivering them to schools throughout the greater Metropolitan area, documenting temperatures upon delivery, and collecting items which must be returned to the central kitchen, as well as some light cleaning. Kitchen tasks will be few and vary widely, depending on the needs of the day. While working for EVMD the Driver/Assistant must be mindful that they represent EVMD and Escuela Viva as a whole. They are responsible for helping to maintain health, safety, and customer service standards set by EVMD. This role is responsible for tracking and submitting their own timesheets and mileage for payroll and reimbursement.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Compliance to Health Department guidelines
- Execute production and quality control with the assistance of another team member.
- Drive either a company vehicle or their own vehicle safely to deliver meals to EVMD schools
- Provide courtesy to any clients they come in contact with, and defer all questions to a regular team member.
- Complete the delivery protocol thoroughly and accurately
- Arrive on time and ready to begin work
- Maintains a professional image and manner consistent with the mission and goals of Escuela Viva
- Additional responsibilities as deemed necessary by program needs, and the owner of Escuela Viva
QUALIFICATIONS
- Must be able to work independently as well as part of a team
- A Food Handler’s card must be obtained before beginning work
- Must be medically fit to perform all job duties.
- Warm, friendly, caring, upbeat personality. Professional, reliable, and prompt.
- Bilingual (Spanish/English) preferred
- CDL preferred but not required
- 3 years professional driving experience preferred
- Having worked for schools preferred
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Walk safely and alertly for extended periods.
- Regularly required to stand; walk; sit; crouch; use hands and arms to finger, handle, feel, or carry; reach with hands and arms.
- Regularly required to lift to 10 lbs. and up to 50 lbs.
- Regularly required to talk or hear; read and identify numbers
