Your Role: Build Foundations for Academic Success and Lifelong Learning

As a 6th Grade Teacher, you will create meaningful learning experiences across core subject areas, helping students strengthen their literacy, analytical thinking, communication, and problem-solving skills. You will guide students through a critical transition year, building both academic confidence and independence while fostering a strong sense of belonging and community.

Through culturally responsive instruction, collaborative learning, and high expectations, you will help students connect classroom learning to their lives, communities, and the world around them.

Key ResponsibilitiesDeliver Engaging, Standards-Aligned Instruction
  • Plan and deliver rigorous lessons across core content areas, including English Language Arts, Social Studies, Mathematics, and Science.
  • Integrate literacy and critical thinking skills throughout all subject areas.
  • Design learning experiences that connect academic content to students’ cultures, identities, and lived experiences.
  • Use a variety of instructional strategies to meet diverse learning needs and learning styles.
  • Differentiate instruction to support English Learners, students with IEPs, and students performing at varying academic levels.
Foster a Positive and Inclusive Classroom Culture
  • Create a safe, welcoming, and respectful learning environment where all students feel valued and empowered.
  • Establish clear expectations, routines, and systems that promote responsibility, independence, and engagement.
  • Build strong relationships with students and cultivate a classroom community centered on belonging and mutual respect.
  • Utilize restorative and culturally responsive practices to support positive student behavior and social-emotional growth.
Support Student Achievement and Growth
  • Monitor student progress through formative and summative assessments.
  • Use data to inform instruction and provide targeted interventions and enrichment opportunities.
  • Deliver timely, actionable feedback that helps students take ownership of their learning.
  • Support students in developing organization, study habits, goal-setting skills, and academic resilience.
Collaborate with Colleagues and Families
  • Work closely with grade-level teams, specialists, and support staff to strengthen student outcomes.
  • Participate in collaborative planning, professional learning communities, and school-wide initiatives.
  • Maintain consistent communication with families regarding student progress, achievements, and areas for growth.
  • Partner with families as active participants in their child’s educational journey.
Engage in Continuous Professional Growth
  • Participate actively in professional development and instructional coaching.
  • Reflect on instructional practices and implement feedback to improve student outcomes.
  • Contribute positively to a collaborative, mission-driven school culture.
  • Stay current on best practices in culturally responsive teaching, middle school instruction, and student engagement.

You Must Have:

    • Bachelor’s degree
    • Valid California Multiple Subject Teaching Credential (or eligibility to obtain one).
    • English Learner Authorization
    • Bilingual Authorization in Spanish (BCLAD or equivalent)
