We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Paint Prep/Painter to join our manufacturing and industrial painting team on second shift. In this role, you will be responsible for applying high-quality coatings to various surfaces using advanced spray painting techniques. Your expertise will ensure that products meet strict quality standards, are visually appealing, and are protected against corrosion and wear. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work with a dynamic team dedicated to precision craftsmanship and manufacturing excellence. The ideal candidate will have a strong mechanical aptitude, familiarity with construction surface preparation, and experience with industrial painting processes.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare surfaces for painting by cleaning, sanding, and applying primer using hand tools and power tools.
  • Operate paint sprayers, and other paint stems to apply coatings evenly and efficiently.
  • Adhere strictly to personal protective equipment (PPE) protocols, including respirators, safety glasses, gloves, and protective clothing during all phases of work.
  • Use precision measuring instruments and visual color comparison techniques to ensure color accuracy and coating consistency.
  • Handle materials safely within warehouse or manufacturing environments, including materials handling with forklifts and cranes when necessary.
  • Maintain high standards of quality in all coatings applied by inspecting finished surfaces against quality standards in production.
  • Follow lean manufacturing principles to optimize workflow, reduce waste, and improve overall efficiency.
  • Collaborate with fabrication, assembly, machining, auto body repair, and welding teams to ensure surface preparation aligns with project specifications.

Skills

  • Proficiency in industrial painting techniques such as paint spraying, auto painting, and construction painting surface preparation.
  • Mechanical knowledge related to fabrication processes, machining operations, welding procedures, and auto body repair.
  • Experience operating forklifts and cranes for materials handling within manufacturing or warehouse settings.
  • Familiarity with the use of hand tools, power tools, precision measuring instruments, and visual color comparison tools.
  • Knowledge of quality standards in production environments to ensure consistent coating application.
  • Ability to follow safety protocols rigorously by using PPE such as respirators (respiratory protection), safety glasses, gloves, and protective clothing at all times.
  • Basic math skills for measurements and calculations related to coating thicknesses or material quantities.
  • Understanding of lean manufacturing principles to promote efficient workflow practices.
  • Experience working in construction painting surface preparation or industrial painting environments is highly desirable.
