General Description
This class observes and reports activities and incidents providing for the security and safety of court property and personnel. Conduct screening of visitors and employees, baggage, or packages to ensure compliance with the court regulations. May operate basic security equipment such as x-ray machines and hand wands at screening checkpoints. Preserves order and may act to enforce regulations and directives for the site pertaining to personnel, visitors, and premises.
Examples of Duties
Provides a variety of information to the public and others by phone, fax, or in person.
Controls access into and out of designated areas; notifies appropriate individuals of suspicious activities; may monitor surveillance monitors.
Enters a variety of information into logs, record books, spreadsheets, and/or databases; retrieves information and disseminates to appropriate individuals.
Performs pat-down or hand-held wand searches of visitors who have triggered machine alarms, who are unable to pass through metal detectors, or who have been randomly identified for such searches
Receives and reviews a variety of paperwork and information checking for accuracy and completeness of information; notifies appropriate individuals of pertinent information.
Inspects items, using x-ray viewing equipment, to determine whether items contain objects that warrant further investigation. Confiscate dangerous items and hazardous materials found.
Provides an atmosphere in which all employees and visitors know that the ECSO responds to and cares about their needs; provides a courteous, respectful and pleasant interaction with each employee and visitor as perceived from their point of view; presents a good image of the ECSO and its security department.
Performs other duties of a similar nature or level.
Typical Qualifications
Training and Experience
High School Diploma or equivalent (G.E.D.) AND up to one (1) year of clerical and customer service or security experience; or, an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above.
Licensing Requirements
May require NCIC/FCIC Certification.
Knowledge
Customer service principles;
Filing principles and practices;
Data entry techniques;
Basic bookkeeping principles and practices.
Skills
Using computers and related software applications;
Providing customer service;

Light to Medium Work: Exerting up to 25 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or negligible amount of force constantly to move objects. If the use of arm and/or leg controls requires exertion of forces greater than that for Sedentary Work and the worker sits most of the time, the job is rated for Light to Medium Work.
Incumbents may be subjected to moving odors, blood and other bodily fluids, and intense noises
