What are the responsibilities and job description for the Logistics Technician position at Escambia County Sheriff's Office?
This class is responsible for general and department specific, routine, daily warehouse activities, including processing postings, supplies receipt and distribution, performing inventories and inventory control activities, and may administer purchase and change orders.May serve as a lead to lower level staff and inmates working in the warehouse facility, which includes: prioritizing and assigning work; training staff on work methods and procedures; and/or, performing other related activities.
Maintains automated supply inventory database; updates database as materials, supplies, and/or equipment are added or deleted; generates related reports to verify inventory levels, determining re-order activity and usage rates.
Distributes and issues uniforms, supplies, materials, and/or equipment based on incoming requests and orders; may assemble emergency equipment packets and/or ready issue bags.
Initiates orders to replenish supply inventories utilizing established guidelines and procedures; performs follow-up with vendors and suppliers to ensure timely delivery of items. May assist in preparing equipment specifications.
Performs quality and quantity checks of materials and equipment received against specifications and amounts ordered; places incoming goods in appropriate areas within the facility.
Prepares and maintains a variety of records related to warehouse activities.
Assists in maintaining the cleanliness and orderliness of assigned facility.
Identifies and prepares materials and equipment for disposal, transfer, and/or public auction; makes minor repairs to equipment to ensure proper working order prior to transfer or sale.
Participates in physical inventories; prepares related reports.
Performs other duties of a similar nature or level.High School Diploma or equivalent (G.E.D.), up to one year of experience in a store, warehouse, or inventory control function, and up to one year of customer service experience; or, an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above.

Incumbents may be subjected to moving mechanical parts, electrical currents, vibrations, fumes, odors, dusts, gases, poor ventilation, chemicals, oils, extreme temperatures, inadequate lighting, work space restrictions, intense noises and travel.
