Automotive Technology Teacher
JOB DESCRIPTION QUALIFICATIONS:
Qualification Level One:
- Must be recognized as an Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) Master Automobile Technician and hold a G1 Certification
OR
- Must hold certification in ALL of the following fields:
- A4 - Suspension & Steering
- A5 - Brakes
- A6 - Electrical/Electronic Systems
- G1 - Auto Maintenance and Light Repair
Qualification Level Two:
- 7 years full-time work experience in the field of Automotive Technology and a high school diploma OR
o Regionally accredited postsecondary certificate/diploma program in Automotive Technology plus 5 years full-time work experience OR
o Regionally accredited postsecondary associate degree program in Automotive Technology plus 3 years full-time work experience OR
o Regionally accredited postsecondary bachelors or higher degree in Automotive Technology.
- Completion of all state requirements to gain teacher certification.
- Must meet background clearance requirements as specified by Alabama statutes and State Board of Education regulations.
Reports To: Principal of Escambia Career Readiness Center
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Develop and implement comprehensive automotive technology curriculum, incorporating up-to-date information and both theoretical and practical knowledge
2. Plan and conduct engaging lessons using demonstrations, lectures, and hands-on activities
3. Instruct students on the safe and proper use of tools, equipment, and diagnostic tools
4. Integrate current industry trends, including new technologies like electric vehicles (EVs) and advanced diagnostic systems
5. Evaluate student performance through assignments, tests, and practical projects
6. Provide timely and appropriate feedback to students on their progress and work
7. Offer guidance and support to students interested in pursuing automotive careers
8. Assist students in the certification process of professional credentials
9. Create and maintain a safe, respectful, and organized learning environment in the classroom/lab
10. Enforce all safety protocols strictly
11. Manage and maintain equipment, tools, and supplies
12. Order necessary supplies within budget
13. Collaborate with colleagues, parents, and guardians
14. Build partnerships with industry experts and local businesses to create learning opportunities
15. Stay current with advancements and trends in the automotive industry
Duty Days: Five (5) days a week/ 202 day contract
Salary Range: According to Escambia County Schools Salary Schedule. Actual salary will be determined by rank and experience.
