Position Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Payroll Specialist to join our growing team. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of payroll processes, a working knowledge of regulatory requirements, and a strong ability to maintain accuracy in a fast-paced environment. This role requires exceptional organizational skills, professionalism, and the ability to work independently or collaboratively. The Payroll Specialist will work closely with our external payroll service provider, Dayforce, to ensure timely and accurate payroll processing in compliance with company policies and applicable laws.
Responsibilities
· Assist with biweekly payroll for multiple states and multiple EINs
- Review and validate timekeeping records, hours worked, tips, and overtime
- Maintain employee payroll records, tax setups, and direct deposits
- Audit payroll reports before and after processing for accuracy
- Respond to employee and manager payroll inquiries in a timely manner
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local wage and hour regulations
- Assist with garnishments, child support, and other wage attachments
- Coordinate benefit deductions and arrears as needed
- Support quarterly and year-end processing including W-2s and tax filings
- Prepare payroll reports and reconciliations
- Maintain confidentiality of all payroll information
- Assist with internal and external audits and provide required documentation
Qualifications
- Minimum 1 - 2 years of payroll experience required
- Experience with multi-state and multiple EIN payroll, strongly preferred
- Working knowledge of payroll regulations and wage and hour laws
- Experience with payroll/HRIS systems (Ceridian Dayforce experience a plus)
- The ability to work both independently and as part of a team
- Rigorous attention to detail to ensure fast and precise data entry and processing, and spot errors and discrepancies
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Self-motivation and organizational skills to manage workload and meet deadlines
- Problem-solving skills to find solutions to common payroll problems
- Proficiency in Excel and payroll reporting
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- High level of professionalism, integrity, and confidentiality
Preferred Certifications
- FPC or CPP (PayrollOrg) preferred, not required
Compensation & Benefits:
• Salary: $55,000 - $60,000 annually
