What are the responsibilities and job description for the Education Specialist-Counseling and Mental Health position at ESC2?
Provide professional development and services, develop products, and participate in special project activities in the areas of mental & behavioral health (MBH) and counseling that support the ESC´s core purpose and strategic goals.
Education Qualifications:
- Master's Degree- required
- Texas School Counselor Certification
Experience:
- Three years of counseling experience.
- Experience with comprehensive counseling services and mental health programming mandates.
- Experience developing and presenting professional development through multiple media modes.
Special Knowledge and Skills:
- Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Support LEA's staff in the development of a strong school culture through the use of mental health and community resources.
- Implement effective mental health training, support, and use of resources.
- Facilitate and lead the professional development of the ESC Region 2 Counseling Cooperative.
- Knowledge of the Texas Comprehensive School Counseling Program Model and ability to support LEAs in its implementation.
- Ability to integrate academic support strategies within counseling services to promote student achievement and postsecondary readiness.
- Experience in aligning counseling practices with academic and behavior interventions and multi-tiered systems of support (MTSS).
Major Responsibilities and Duties:
- Assist in appropriate use of fiscal and facility resources to support program goals and activities.
- Assists with effective operation of the center and pursues a common vision for the improvement of the center.
- Develops and participates in innovative practices and programs with the center, LEAs and other agencies.
- Observes ESC-2 policies, procedures, and professional practices.
- Participates in staff development activities, staff meetings and curriculum development activities as required or assigned.
- Support LEAs in implementing the Texas Comprehensive School Counseling Program Model, including guidance curriculum, responsive services, individual planning, and system support.
- Collaborate with campus and district staff to integrate academic support into counseling services, ensuring alignment with student achievement goals.
- Provide professional development and technical assistance on academic advising, graduation requirements, and postsecondary planning.
- Assist in the development and evaluation of counseling programs that address academic, career, and social/emotional domains.
- Performs related work as assigned.
