Title:                    EMIS Support Specialist
 
Position Summary:
This position focuses on supporting and enhancing the SIS and EMIS by providing training, troubleshooting, and data quality assurance. The role involves guiding districts on data entry, error resolution, and report generation, as well as creating and delivering professional development for both districts and internal staff. Additionally, the position requires staying updated on technical trends, maintaining software expertise, and fostering continuous improvement in SIS/EMIS operations. Strong customer service, problem-solving, and collaboration skills are essential to meet the needs of districts and staff.
 
Essential Responsibilities:
 
SIS/EMIS Support:
  • Design and implement EMIS training for Connect employees and districts stakeholders.
  • Assist and support districts in coordinating the collection, verification, maintenance, and reporting of student, staff, and financial data to ensure that EMIS data is processed in accordance with the ODE EMIS Manual.
  • Work with districts to guide them in making corrections on required reports generated by EMIS or other automated systems.
  • Comprehend, apply and disseminate data reporting rules for federal, local, and state reporting and be able to troubleshoot data error solutions.
  • Communicate EMIS changes and data best practices with staff within the district in a timely, proactive, and professional fashion.
  • Support the assessment of the quality of the data entered as required for each EMIS reporting collection.
  • Create and monitor helpdesk tickets to DEW and other systems.
  • Select, maintain, and resolve cases reported to Connect by districts in a timely manner.
  • Attend meetings as a liaison for EMIS on behalf of Connect.
  • Maintain expertise in software and/or hardware applications which impact given primary responsibility.
  • Provide rapid detection and solutions to customer’s questions and problems.
  • Set a professional image for Connect through the use of interpersonal skills including, but are not limited to, courteous manners, a positive attitude, and cooperative demeanor.
  • Maintain a cooperative relationship and open communication with other ITC site personnel.
  • Test new versions of application software and state reporting releases.
  • Maintain confidentiality in all work responsibilities.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Innovation and Team Collaboration:
  • Maintain current knowledge of software and technology related to EMIS operations and functions.
  • Stay updated on the latest technical trends and developments in EMIS processing and reporting, sharing relevant information with appropriate staff.
  • Collaborate effectively with team members and other departments to ensure alignment with company goals and departmental objectives.
  • Actively engage in meetings and training, adapt to changes proactively, and take on additional duties as needed.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with SIS and EMIS vendors.
 
Qualifications:
  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent industry experience.
  • Experience:
    • At least 10 years’ experience in working Student Information Systems and EMIS Reporting is preferred.
    • Familiarity with ITC policies and procedures.
    • Proficient in Excel, Google Workspace, PowerPoint, and other productivity tools.
    • Shows expertise in helpdesk support and technical troubleshooting with the ability to read, analyze and interpret technical documentation.
    • Comprehensive understanding of managing student data and other school-related data systems.
    • Experience in creating and providing quality professional development related to the SIS and EMIS.
    • Develop and maintain customer relationships.
