Job Title:           Board Certified Behavior Analyst (School)

Classification: Exempt

 

SUMMARY
Responsible for assessing, creating, coordinating, and implementing behavior analysis services and behavior interventions plans for students with autism at the Achievement Centers for Children’s Autism School. Provide support and professional learning opportunities to school staff, and parents/guardians. 

ONGOING DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. To successfully perform this job, an individual must be able to successfully perform each ongoing responsibility. Other duties may also be assigned.

 

1.           Responsible for having working knowledge of Ohio Department of Education (ODE) licensing regulations, ODE Academic Content Standards grades K-12 .

2.           Promotes a positive image by representing the Autism School and the Achievement Centers for Children in a courteous, professional manner.

3.            Adheres to all Policies/Procedures in the Achievement Centers for Children Staff Handbook and Autism School Operating Manual.

4.            Promotes a team approach throughout the agency.

5.            Works in family-centered partnership with the individuals and families served by the Achievement Centers for Children.

6.            Practices safe work habits and contributes to ensuring a safe and healthy work environment.

  1. Maintains the Autism School classrooms, playground and office areas to allow for safe, efficient and organized delivery of services to families.
  2. Maintains all equipment in safe working order, notifying supervisor of repairs/replacements as needed.
  3. Practices appropriate safety techniques related to Infection Control and Universal Precautions including hand washing, toy disinfecting and laundry.

7.            Attends continuing education courses and keeps abreast of new techniques and trends in the field of Education/Special Education/Autism through conferences and professional memberships.

8.            Fosters and maintains good public relations with all community sources.

9.            Conducts self with professional dignity; understands the importance of good human relations; able to motivate others; and possesses initiative and good judgment.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES include the following.  Other duties may be assigned.  To successfully perform this job, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.  Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable qualified individuals with disabilities to perform essential duties.

  1.     Maintains professional ethical standards and complies with ACC policies and procedures.
  2.  Provide and help develop behavioral services for Positive Behavior Supports (PBIS).
  3.  Develops professional development opportunities, materials, and provides resources for administrators, educators, paraprofessionals, and other support staff of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA), Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) and/or other evidenced based methodologies related to addressing the needs of students with behavioral challenges in accordance to federal/state/IDEA laws and regulations. 
  4.  Observes and gathers data for administration of Functional Behavior Assessments (FBA) and implementation of Behavioral Intervention Plans (BIP). Effectively develop plans as directed by data and assessments. 
  5.  Creates and assists staff with the development and implementation of behavior intervention plans (BIP’s), ABA techniques and other appropriate programs for students with behavior/learning challenges.
  6.  Provides direct intervention services to students who exhibit inappropriate behaviors and proves support and professional learning for staff who work with these students. May be directed by a Behavior Intervention Plan, Individualized Education Plan.
  7.  Manage assaultive behaviors by using best practices and as a last resort, Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) and serves as trainer for CPI.
  8.  Effectively provide clinical supervision of Registered Behavioral Technicians (RBT) as directed by the Behavior Analyst Certification Board.
  9.  Attend weekly team meetings, all IEP meetings and ETR conferences for students.
  10. Attend professional growth opportunities at the discretion of the director of

 

ADDITIONAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBLITIES

1.  Serve as a role model for educators and students in how to conduct themselves as citizens and as responsible, intelligent human beings.             

2.  Assist with successful student transitions for students who are transition to or from an alternative placement 
3.  Collaborate with public and private agencies to offer recommendations and consultation that fosters appropriate social skills and prevent behaviors for the purpose of effective learning in the educational environment.
4.  Perform such other duties as the governing board may assign/determine.
5.  Remain free of any alcohol or controlled or non-controlled substance use in the workplace throughout his/her employment. 
 

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS listed below are indicative of knowledge, skills, and abilities required to be successful in this position.

Education, Training and/or Experience

  1. Appropriate Ohio Educational License through the Ohio Department of Education
  2. Appropriate Board Certified Behavioral Analyst License.
  3. Shall meet requirements for employment governed by federal and state laws i.e., BCI&I and FBI check.  
  4. Expectations include ability to read, analyze, interpret assessments and reports, write compliance reports, and professional correspondence, effectively present information and respond to administration, students, families and the general public.
  5. Maintain valid Ohio driver’s license.

  2. May require offsite travel.
