Elementary Social Studies Consultant

QUALIFICATIONS 

• Bachelor’s Degree with 5 years experience, Master’s Degree preferred
• Valid Texas Teacher’s Certificate
• Recommended by the ESC Executive Director
• Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Executive Director may find appropriate and acceptable

CENTER RESPONSIBILITIES 

• Process all personal timekeeping, travel reporting and other paperwork in a timely manner
• Maintain professional attire and grooming appropriate for specific job position.
• Demonstrate punctual and regular attendance on the job
• Reports for work ready to perform responsibilities
• Supports the mission, goals, and objectives of the ESC
• Upholds and adheres to safety rules and policies of the ESC
• Performs professional responsibilities as required by ESC policies, processes, and procedures
• Meets proficiency levels of required technology skills as outlined by supervisor
• Incorporates appropriate technology in daily work and exhibits continual growth in technologies as outlined by supervisor
• Exhibit professionalism in all situations at the ESC
• Develop collaborative and positive relationships with schools and co-workers
• Exhibit planning and leadership on assigned tasks and projects
• Ability to take initiative and exhibit innovative thinking

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES

Social Studies:

• Provide training on effective teaching practices and assistance in the selection and use of instructional resources

• Provide workshops in generating new or adapting social studies strategies for existing curriculum documents, such as social studies instructional units
• Provide appropriate training and/or technical assistance on the Texas Knowledge and Skills for K-5 Social Studies, Civics, and any corresponding technology application TEKS in preparation for social studies state mandated assessments
• Provide professional development for the integration of technology into the curriculum.
• Provide technical assistance to districts
• Analyze data and provide appropriate interventions, strategies, and enrichment as determined from STAAR/EOC and local assessment data for social studies.
• Provide student seminars, when feasible
• Develop and maintain partnerships with the Texas Education Agency (TEA), and other relevant professional organizations
• Travel (meaning to drive one’s own vehicle) to and from LEA's to fulfill program and project specifications are required. Out of region travel may also be required.

• Coordinate and deliver effective training, staff development, and technical assistance in areas pertinent to the program or project

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT

Up to 226 working days
This is an at-will employment position.
In the event of an economic slump, a reduction-in-force may be necessary. Employees will be notified in writing
