Job Title: TEMPORARY Texas School Bus Driver Certification Trainer
FLSA Status: Temporary - Hourly
Pay Grade: $25-$30 Hourly
Reports To: Chief Financial & Operations Officer
Primary Purpose
To train Region 11 school bus drivers by teaching Texas Department of Public Safety School Bus Driver Safety Training Certification classes.
Qualifications

Education/Certification:
- Currently certified in School Bus Driver Safety Training in Texas
- Hold a valid Texas Class “A” or “B” Commercial Driver’s License with Passenger “P” and School Bus “S” endorsements. No “Air Brake” restriction.
Special Knowledge/Skills:
- Knowledge of the material included in the school bus driver certification course
- Knowledge of and the ability to present training on the operation and safety of school buses and the duties of school bus drivers
- Knowledge of and the ability to present training on the Texas motor vehicle laws pertaining to school buses
- Ability to teach adults with a variety of learning styles
- Strong communication, public relations, and interpersonal skills
- Detail-oriented, with an ability to adhere to precise paperwork and documentation requirements
Experience:
- Minimum of five years of service in Texas public school transportation
- Minimum of three years of successful administrative and/or supervisory experience in Texas public school transportation
- Minimum of three years of successfully training adults (preferred)

**This position may be partially or completely funded using grant and/or federal monies and is assigned programs to include activities designed to enhance the effective and coordinated use of funds.
- Teach the 20-hour School Bus Driver Certification and eight-hour Recertification courses to Region 11 drivers
- Keep current with and revise course materials and presentations based on Texas Department of Public Safety legal interpretations and legislative mandates
- Demonstrate familiarity with the operation of school buses and the duties of school bus drivers
- Demonstrate knowledge of Texas motor vehicle laws pertaining to school buses
- Demonstrate effective instructional practices

Equipment/Specialized Software Used
Email, Microsoft PowerPoint, Microsoft Word, Audio-Visual equipment, operating a school bus, Google Drive, Dropbox, or other online system for sharing digital files/documents.
Working Conditions (Mental Demands/Physical Demands/Environmental Factors)
Mental: Public relations and people skills are always required, work with frequent interruptions, and maintain professional composure and confidentiality under stress.
Physical: Occasional prolonged and irregular hours, ability to move tables and chairs, and load/unload boxes and materials. Ability to set up / break down Audio-Visual equipment. Willingness to use own personal vehicle for frequent region-wide travel
Environmental: Work with ESC Region 11 Transportation Services staff. Work with School District Transportation staff
Evaluation
Annual performance evaluation will be performed in accordance with the adopted policies of the Education Service Center Region 11. Employment in this position is contingent upon performance, need, and funding.
