JOB SUMMARY
The Early Childhood Education Coordinator for Quality Assurance & Operations will support the Preschool Program operated by the ESC of Lake Erie West. The Coordinator will ensure the smooth operation of the preschool program, ensure compliance with federal and state regulations, and maintain program records that document quality and compliance. The Coordinator will ensure the early childhood diagnostic process runs seamlessly. The Coordinator will work in collaboration with the Early Childhood Coordinator of Curriculum and Staff Development to ensure that all preschool program sites meet the highest requirements of Ohio’s Step Up to Quality program.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Current Ohio State Board of Education teaching license in one of the following: -valid early childhood intervention specialist license -valid intervention specialist or education of the handicapped license with an endorsement in pre-kindergarten special needs or early education of the handicapped -valid pre-kindergarten license or an early childhood license with an endorsement in pre-kindergarten special needs or early education of the handicapped -valid Primary Intervention Specialist license (P-5)
- Three years of experience teaching young children
- Five years of experience teaching special education
- Valid Supervisor, Principal, or Administrative Specialist license preferred
- Master’s Degree in administration or special education preferred
- Experience in supervising/evaluating professional staff preferred
- Serve as the primary point of contact for school districts in addressing program concerns; Serve as a liaison between ESC staff and the public school district; report concerns to the Assistant Superintendent and/or Superintendent
- Ensure the smooth operation of the preschool program, including: -Check the running staffing sheet daily and update the Assistant Superintendent of openings as needed -Oversee staff scheduling to ensure student needs and ratios are met -Ensure that daily operations (i.e., arrival, dismissal, ratios) run effectively and efficiently -Provide procedures for emergency situations, including fire drills, rapid dismissals, tornado drills, and school safety drills, and keep records of such drills or dismissals; Post emergency procedures in preschool rooms and make them available to school personnel, children, and parents
- Ensure compliance with federal and state regulations and educational standards, and maintain program records that document quality and compliance
- Supervise each child's admission, placement, and withdrawal according to established procedures; Attend home visits as needed
- Maintain cumulative records for each child
- Oversee development of Medical Plans in collaboration with teachers and parents
- Oversee the Early Childhood Diagnostic Process, including -Schedule and oversee Summer Diagnostics -Collaborate with the Early Childhood Coordinator of Curriculum and Staff Development, School Psychologists, and Related Service Supervisor to support best practices in diagnostics -Collaborate with the Early Childhood Coordinator of Curriculum and Staff Development and School Psychologists to support scheduling of diagnostics
- Coordinate meetings (e.g., IEP, ETR, TPC); Attend IEP, IAT, and TPC meetings upon request; review and evaluate ETR, IEP, and other documents for quality and accuracy; Monitor and sign off on completed documents
- Collaborate with the Early Childhood Coordinator of Curriculum and Staff Development to schedule, facilitate, and provide high-quality professional development for staff and paraprofessionals
- In collaboration with the Early Childhood Coordinator of Curriculum and Staff Development, establish an efficient and effective system to communicate with staff at multiple locations; Maintain an ongoing and visible presence at each program site
- In collaboration with the Early Childhood Coordinator of Curriculum and Staff Development, maintain a schedule of regular staff meetings
- Support and collaborate with the Assistant Superintendent of Student Services in recruitment, retention, and assignment of paraprofessionals, educational aides, and substitute teachers
- Work in collaboration with the Early Childhood Coordinator of Curriculum and Staff Development in evaluating preschool staff members using the OTES process
- Work with staff members to evaluate and improve programs
- Collaborate with the Early Childhood Coordinator of Services and Quality Assurance and the Director of Student Services in annual program evaluation and strategic improvement plans as required by state and federal regulations
- Participate in site visits, state audits, reviews, and/or evaluations
