Summary
The Education Service Center is committed to supporting districts in the selection and implementation of high-quality instructional materials (HQIM) to ensure equity for all students through access to rigorous, grade-level content. This role will play a key part in the Strong Foundations Implementation (SFI) initiative, which provides direct grant funds to local educational agencies (LEAs) to support high-fidelity implementation of the Bluebonnet Learning instructional materials. In addition to supporting Strong Foundations Implementation, this position will also provide regional campus and district educators with technical assistance and professional learning opportunities in K-5 and 6-12 mathematics instruction, state initiatives, special programs, and area of assignment.
Role Impact: By ensuring high-fidelity implementation of HQIM, this role directly contributes to the overarching vision of the Strong Foundations Grant Program—ensuring that all Texas students have access to rigorous, grade-level content and instruction daily. Through collaboration, capacity-building, and strategic professional learning, the Professional Development Consultant will be instrumental in supporting educators and school leaders in delivering high-quality math instruction across the region.
Qualifications
This position requires:
A Master’s degree.
A valid Texas State Teacher Certification in Mathematics.
A minimum of five (5) years of experience teaching K-5 or 6-12 mathematics (Bilingual/ESL certification preferred).
Deep content and pedagogical knowledge and skills.
A minimum of two (2) years of campus, district, or regional leadership experience as a curriculum specialist, instructional coach, and/or assistant principal/principal.
Mid-management or principal certification preferred.
TTESS and AEL certification preferred.
Knowledge of high-quality instructional materials, curriculum alignment, and assessment practices.
Ability to analyze student performance data to inform instructional decision-making.
Experience in public presentations and communicating complex information.
Strong ability to develop effective working relationships with diverse individuals and groups, including district administrators, teachers, education experts, and other relevant stakeholders.
A strong understanding of equity-focused instructional practices and strategies for diverse student populations.
Proficiency in managing projects toward outcomes and effectively communicating instructional strategies.
Success in leveraging various strategies and interpersonal skills to advance work, demonstrating flexibility and adaptability when facing changes in direction or deadlines.
A commitment to self-reflection, receiving/giving feedback, and continuous improvement.
Other Requirements:
Prior experience using data analysis software and communication tools, including Microsoft Excel and Microsoft PowerPoint.
Previous budget and program management experience.
A valid driver’s license and proof of auto insurance.
