What are the responsibilities and job description for the Direct Support Professional position at ESB OF MARYLAND?
Duties:
- Provide direct care and support to individuals with developmental disabilities, including those with autism.
- Assist individuals with daily activities such as personal hygiene, meal preparation, and medication administration.
- Implement behavior management strategies to promote positive behaviors and reduce challenging behaviors.
- Support individuals in developing and maintaining social skills and relationships.
- Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team including nurses, social workers, and therapists to ensure the well-being of individuals.
- Maintain accurate documentation of services provided and individual progress.
Requirements:
- Ability to perform heavy lifting and physical tasks as needed.
- Experience in childcare or working with individuals with developmental disabilities is preferred.
- Knowledge of medication administration and first aid procedures.
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation to transport individuals as needed.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with individuals, families, and team members.
- Flexibility to work various shifts including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
Must have current AHA compliant CPR & First Aid. Clean Driving Record required, must pass a Criminal Background Check and CPS Background Check. Experience working with developmentally challenged individuals required. Prefer someone with experience working with individuals diagnosed with autism. Competitive pay rate. Evenings and some weekend days required
