Role Description This is a full-time, on-site Workers’ Compensation Defense Attorney role based in Edina, MN. The attorney will manage a caseload of workers’ compensation defense matters from initial intake through resolution, including conducting legal research, drafting pleadings, motions, and briefs, and preparing discovery responses. Day-to-day responsibilities include assessing claims, advising clients and insurers on risk and exposure, negotiating settlements, and appearing at hearings, depositions, mediations, and trials. The role involves collaborating closely with clients, insurers, and claims administrators to develop and execute effective defense strategies. The attorney will also be expected to maintain clear communication, keep clients informed on case developments, and manage deadlines and case documentation efficiently.

Qualifications
- Strong knowledge of workers’ compensation law and related civil litigation procedures, with the ability to analyze claims and develop defense strategies.
- Experience or familiarity with Employee Benefits and Insurance issues as they relate to workers’ compensation and liability matters.
- Skills in Claims Handling and Claims Management, including evaluating files, coordinating with claims professionals, and managing case progression.
- Commitment to high-quality Customer Service, including clear communication, responsiveness, and collaborative work with clients, insurers, and claims administrators.
- Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school and active license (or eligibility for licensure) to practice law in Minnesota.
- Strong legal writing, research, and oral advocacy skills, with attention to detail and sound judgment.
- Ability to manage multiple cases and deadlines, work independently, and contribute effectively within a team-focused environment.
- Prior experience in workers’ compensation defense or insurance defense litigation is preferred but not required.
