Duties
- Greet customers warmly and assist with product inquiries, providing knowledgeable product demos when appropriate
- Operate the cash register (POS system) accurately for retail sales transactions, including cash handling and balancing the cash drawer at shift end
- Upsell complementary products and promote ongoing promotions to enhance sales and customer satisfaction
- Stock shelves, organize merchandise, and ensure the store displays are attractive and well-maintained through effective merchandising techniques
- Handle all aspects of cashiering with professionalism, including processing returns, exchanges, and managing cash register operations
- Maintain excellent phone etiquette when answering customer calls or inquiries, providing helpful information promptly
- Assist in inventory management by stocking products, conducting stock counts, and supporting inventory audits as needed
Qualifications
- Previous experience with POS systems and retail sales transactions is preferred; grocery store experience is a plus
- Demonstrated supervising experience or leadership skills in a retail setting is advantageous
- Strong communication skills with the ability to engage customers effectively in bilingual environments (English/Spanish or other languages)
- Knowledge of retail store product details, merchandising strategies, and basic math for retail math calculations
- Experience in cashiering, cash register operations, cash handling, and cash drawer management with accuracy and integrity
- Excellent customer service skills with a friendly attitude and professional phone etiquette
- Ability to perform stocking duties efficiently while maintaining safety standards
- Familiarity with upselling techniques and product demos to enhance sales performance
