What are the responsibilities and job description for the SAW OPERATORS position at Ernest-Spencer Metals Inc?
EXPERIENCE preferred
General Responsibilities:
- Tends saw to cut metal sheets, plates, bars, angle and pipe.
- General knowledge of how to write a program and pull up an existing program on the saw computer.
- Operator must possess the skills necessary to convert the angle shown on the blue print to the appropriate angle that is needed on the computer.
- Inspects work for conformance to specifications.
- Must be able to distinguish different types of material.
- Must be able to set a manual stop to achieve accurate cut lengths in a consistent manner?
- Must be able to demonstrate the ability to properly and safely change the saw blades on the machine.
- Must be able to distinguish which blade to use for each type of material.
- Must be knowledgeable about the cooling system for the saw. Keep the water tank full. Know the appropriate mix of water to cutting fluid.
- Must be aware of safety considerations for operating machine.
- Must be able to examine parts for quality.
- Other duties may be assigned.
