NOW HIRING: Dog Kennel Assistants
Paws and Claws Adoption Center is looking for reliable, hardworking kennel assistants to join our team. This is a hands-on, physically demanding position working directly with dogs of all sizes, breeds, and ages in a fast-paced shelter environment.
Work Schedule
- 3–4 days per week
- Shifts vary between:
- Full Day: 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM
- Morning: 8:00 AM – 11:00 AM
- Afternoon: 12:00 PM – 4:30 PM
- Rotating weekends and holidays are required

- Able to work independently and follow instructions carefully
- Comfortable working with dogs of all sizes, breeds, and temperaments
- Able to work weekdays, rotating weekends, and holidays

Job Overview
We are seeking dedicated kennel assistants who are comfortable in a kennel environment and committed to providing quality daily care for shelter animals.
Responsibilities
- Assist with daily care of animals in the kennel
- Provide food, water, and clean bedding
- Monitor animal health and well-being
- Walk, exercise, and socialize animals
- Clean and sanitize kennels, cages, and common areas
- Assist with bathing and grooming
- Administer medications as directed
- Assist with restraining animals during intake, vaccinations, and medical procedures
Daily Duties Include
- Cleaning and disinfecting dog and cat kennels
- Cleaning outdoor dog areas
- Feeding and watering animals
- Sweeping, mopping, washing dishes, and doing laundry
- Occasional yard work
- Socializing dogs and cats
- Showing animals to the public
- Giving medication when needed
- Learning proper animal restraint for vaccinations, microchipping, blood draws, and intake exams
Qualifications
- Ability to read and follow written and verbal instructions
- Clear verbal and written communication skills
- Good observation skills
- Ability to work efficiently and complete chores within required timeframes
Physical Requirements
- Lift up to 55 pounds without assistance
- Bend, stoop, reach, and stand for long periods
- Perform physically demanding work in a fast-paced environment
