Job Summary

The Mechanical Designer role is responsible for assisting in the design and development of transformers and related components. As a fully competent designer, the Mechanical Designer is capable of independent work, has developed basic technical skills, and is experienced in engineering practices. This role involves collaboration with cross-functional teams and supports the execution of design tasks while ensuring compliance with industry standards.

This role will be onsite in Athens, GA. Relocation Assistance is available.

Responsibilities

  • Independently Design and develop transformer related enclosures, assemblies, and related components under the guidance of more experienced engineers, ensuring compliance with industry standards (e.g., IEEE, UL, IEC, CSA).
  • Contribute to failure analysis efforts by collecting data and assisting in identifying potential causes under supervision.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including manufacturing, quality assurance, supply chain, sales, and customer service to ensure successful integration of designs into production.
  • Prepare and maintain basic engineering documentation, including design notes, reports, and test results, under close supervision.
  • Participate in design reviews and contribute to discussions by providing data and technical support.
  • Learn and stay informed on industry trends and regulatory requirements to support compliant designs.
  • Support continuous improvement efforts by participating in process and product improvements as directed.

Qualifications

  • Associate’s degree in technical field or related technical certification
  • More than 5 years of experience in drafting or mechanical design, with a focus on transformer or related product design.
  • Proficiency with basic design and analysis tools, such as AutoCAD, Inventor, or SolidWorks
  • Familiarity with industry standards (e.g., IEEE, UL, IEC, CSA) and regulatory requirements (e.g. DOE) for transformers or components.
  • Strong desire to learn and develop technical skills in transformer or related product design.
  • Effective communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams.
  • Organized, with the ability to manage assigned tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Applicants with hands-on transformer experience and/or product knowledge with technical potential may be considered
