The Mechanical Designer role is responsible for assisting in the design and development of transformers and related components. This role involves collaboration with cross-functional teams and supports the execution of design tasks while ensuring compliance with industry standards.
This role will be onsite in Athens, GA. Relocation Assistance is available.
Responsibilities
- Independently Design and develop transformer related enclosures, assemblies, and related components under the guidance of more experienced engineers, ensuring compliance with industry standards (e.g., IEEE, UL, IEC, CSA).
- Contribute to failure analysis efforts by collecting data and assisting in identifying potential causes under supervision.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including manufacturing, quality assurance, supply chain, sales, and customer service to ensure successful integration of designs into production.
- Prepare and maintain basic engineering documentation, including design notes, reports, and test results, under close supervision.
- Participate in design reviews and contribute to discussions by providing data and technical support.
- Learn and stay informed on industry trends and regulatory requirements to support compliant designs.
- Support continuous improvement efforts by participating in process and product improvements as directed.
- Associate’s degree in technical field or related technical certification
- More than 5 years of experience in drafting or mechanical design, with a focus on transformer or related product design.
- Proficiency with basic design and analysis tools, such as AutoCAD, Inventor, or SolidWorks
- Familiarity with industry standards (e.g., IEEE, UL, IEC, CSA) and regulatory requirements (e.g. DOE) for transformers or components.
- Strong desire to learn and develop technical skills in transformer or related product design.
- Effective communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams.
- Organized, with the ability to manage assigned tasks and meet deadlines.
