As a Managing Consultant, Renewables – Deputy Project Manager, you’ll play a critical role in advancing ERM’s most meaningful sustainability and power-transition projects across the Northeast. This is a strategic opportunity for an experienced environmental professional to guide complex permitting efforts, influence technical decision‑making, and partner closely with multidisciplinary experts. Required

What You’ll Bring

  • Bachelor’s degree in biological sciences or a related field.
  • 3 years of relevant experience.
  • Proven project management and coordination skills, including experience with NTP processes and document reviews.
  • Strong understanding of regulatory, technical, and compliance requirements.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities.
  • Demonstrated leadership in training and mentoring team members.
  • Experience leading multi-team meetings and contributing to strategic planning.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects under strict deadlines.
  • Willingness and ability to support field assignments approximately 50% of the time.
  • Driver's License Required: This position requires a valid driver's license and/or the ability to operate a company vehicle due to the nature of job duties, which include frequent travel to various client locations across a large geographical area.
  • This position is not eligible for immigration sponsorship.

Preferred

  • Experience working with federal agencies and familiarity with NEPA-related and state impact‑assessment requirements.
  • Background in energy or transmission line projects.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage the permitting process for power and technology-sector projects.
  • Coordinate comprehensive document reviews and support development of key project documentation.
  • Track analysis efforts to ensure alignment with technical and regulatory requirements.
  • Collaborate closely with multidisciplinary teams across ERM and client organizations.
  • Ensure all necessary permits and authorizations are secured.
  • Facilitate communication among diverse stakeholders to maintain progress and meet deadlines.
  • Lead multi-team meetings to assess progress, identify risks, and plan strategically.
  • Review project documentation to assess potential impacts on soils, wildlife, vegetation, wetlands, and natural resources.
  • Manage successful execution of state and federal Environmental Assessments.
  • Prepare technical reports, meeting notes, presentations, and stakeholder briefings.
  • Assist in resolving project challenges to maintain momentum and efficiency.
  • Perform wetland delineations following the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Wetlands Delineation Manual and Regional Supplements.
  • Provide creative, fit‑for‑purpose technical analyses within your specialty and support interdisciplinary work with subject‑matter experts.
  • Conduct field surveys, collect and organize field data, perform research/literature reviews, write reports, and develop strategies and recommendations for clients.

For the Managing Consultant, Renewables – Deputy Project Manager position, the anticipated annual base pay is $95,682–$124,245 (USD). Actual pay will depend on factors such as education, experience, skills, location, performance, and business needs. In some cases, pay may fall outside this range. This role may be eligible for bonus pay (casual and fixed term/flex force employees are not bonus eligible).
