Job Summary:
The GI Scope Technician is a certified/non-licensed healthcare provider employed by Erlanger Medical Center is responsible for direct and/or indirect care in the GI Endoscopy Center. (A registered or a licensed practical nurse may apply and work in a Patient Care Technician position, but must function within the guidelines, skills, and pay grade outlined for the Patient Care Technician.)
Education:
Required:
High School Diploma or equivalent.
Preferred:
Nursing Assistant Certified by the State of Tennessee preferred, OR nursing student completing or near completion of Fundamentals of Nursing, EMT, Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) or Medical Assistant.

Medical background preferred but not required

BLS completed prior to going to the unit/ department and maintained going forward

The individual must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span possesses the ability to assess data reflective of the patient's status and interpret the appropriate information needed to identify each patient's requirements relative to his or her age specific needs and to provide the care needed as described in the unit's policies and procedures
