Job Summary:
The Behavioral Health MSW primary function is to provide support to patients with psychiatric symptoms who are under inpatient admission status. Position duties include patient screening, psychiatric assessments with treatment recommendations, brief intervention, providing feedback to the providers, and referral to treatment.
Education:
Required:
Master�s Degree from an accredited Social Work Program
Preferred:
Experience:
Required:
A minimum of one year experience in social work or related and psychiatric evaluations.
Preferred:
A minimum of three years experience in social work or related field. Comfortable with completing psychiatric assessments. Experience working in the acute care setting.
Position Requirement(s): License/Certification/Registration:
Required:
Licensed in the State of Tennessee as MSW
Willing to consider applicants who will achieve licensure within one year of starting the position
Preferred:
LMSW, LCSW
BLS completed prior to going to the unit/department and to be maintained going forward.
De-escalation certification
Department Position Summary:
The Behavioral Health Social Worker, MSW will
Provide direct patient care to patients with a medical admission through
brief and comprehensive assessments
Coordinate care with Case Management and provider teams
Round with the Behavioral Health team on all admitted behavioral health patients
Provide resource information and educates patients and families about their illness and available treatment options
Utilizes problem solving skills and negotiating techniques to resolve conflict issues.
Must Be Able To Demonstrate:
Knowledge of the DSM
Effective collaboration
Knowledge of community resources
Desire to promote wellness
Willingness to provide crisis management education to staff, providers and other learners
