Job Summary:
The Sports Marketing Specialist is responsible for planning, directing and administering all sports-related community partnerships, activations, and events in which Erlanger Health System is a sponsor or featured partner. This includes strategic oversight and management of year-round activities at Erlanger Park (home of the Chattanooga Lookouts), event day logistics, brand representation, and the development of sports-related community outreach initiatives.
Beyond baseball, the Specialist will independently develop, evaluate and manage relationships with high school, youth, and recreational sports programs across the region�including soccer, basketball, football, track, and more�to ensure Erlanger maintains a visible, health-forward presence at key events. This position exercises independent judgement and discretion in the development and execution of marketing partnerships, sponsorship strategies and community engagement initiatives that support Erlanger�s brand, service lines, and organizational objectives.

As a member of the Community Relations Team within the broader Marketing & Communications structure, the Sports Marketing Specialist provides professional-level marketing support through the independent coordination planning and execution of sports sponsorship programs and community engagement initiatives. Key Job Responsibilities:
Erlanger Park and Chattanooga Lookouts Activation
- Serve as Erlanger�s primary liaison to the Chattanooga Lookouts, representing Erlanger in strategic partnership discussions and coordinating initiatives that advance organizational marketing goals, including management of the system�s title sponsorship of Erlanger Park.
- Oversee event-day activations including signage, on-field presentations, wellness activities, and public recognition of Erlanger teams, clinicians, or partners.
- Work with Marketing and Creative teams to ensure brand integrity across in-park materials and experiences.
- Evaluate sponsorship effectiveness and recommend improvements to enhance brand visibility, community engagement, and marketing return on investment.
Sports Sponsorship Management
- Identify and manage Erlanger�s relationships with local and regional sports organizations�especially youth leagues, high schools, and community rec teams.
- Research, recommend and negotiate sports sponsorship opportunities that align with marketing strategy and community health initiatives.
- Coordinate presence at sporting events where Erlanger is a sponsor or host, ensuring that brand activations are strategic, visible, and mission aligned.
- Develop relationships with athletic directors, coaches, and civic partners to expand Erlanger�s role in community sports engagement.
- Exercise independent judgement when prioritizing partnership opportunities and allocating marketing resources.
Event Planning and Execution
- Plan and execute Erlanger-branded events at sports venues�such as health screenings, sponsor nights, community celebrations, and recognition ceremonies.
- Manage logistics for on-site presence, signage, staffing, giveaways, and community education opportunities at athletic events.
- Collaborate with the Event Specialist and CMN & Community Giving Manager to ensure integration with broader community engagement efforts.
- Lead planning and implementation of event strategies designed to increase brand visibility and community engagement.
Brand Visibility and Community Health Messaging
- Coordinate messaging and signage that reinforces Erlanger�s mission of wellness, prevention, and community health across all sports activations.
- Identify opportunities to promote pediatric care, orthopedics, wellness programs, or other relevant healthcare and wellness service lines in sports-related environments.
- Capture content and stories from sporting events for use across digital and social channels in collaboration with Marketing and Communications.
- Analyze audience engagement and community response to inform future marketing sponsorship initiatives.
Education:
Required: Bachelor�s degree in Sports Marketing, Public Relations, Event Management, or related field

Advanced coursework or professional experience in marketing strategy, sponsorship management, sports management or community engagement.

- 3�5 years of experience managing or coordinating sports sponsorships, athletic events, or brand activations
- Strong interpersonal skills and comfort working in fast-paced, public-facing environments
- Availability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required for sporting events

- Experience working in or with minor league sports organizations, community athletics, or school athletic departments
- Familiarity with brand strategy, health education campaigns, or nonprofit sponsorship coordination
- Knowledge of youth sports trends, community engagement strategies, and event production best practices
