Education:
Required:
B.S. Degree in Communications/Media Relations/Public Relations or closely related field.
Preferred:
B.S degree in Communications, with additional coursework in related field
Experience:

Five to 10 years' experience in some public relations, marketing or similar role - preferably in healthcare.

Department Position Summary:
The Public Relations Specialist uses multiple internal and external communications tools and venues to promote the Erlanger Health System - its programs, image, special events, product lines and services - to a diverse audience, including the general public, physicians, staff, and other referring healthcare providers. Ability to tailor messages to targeted audiences.
Responsibilities include:
Effective writing press releases, public service announcements, advertising copy, print pieces including but not limited to brochures and flyers, the Erlanger website and other publications.
Working as part of a team to provide creative input for all Erlanger advertising-print, web and broadcast- and all marketing efforts.
Working with graphic designers, printers, photographers, ad agencies and other production companies to produce advertising and other promotional materials.
Building and maintaining effective media relationships in order to pitch story ideas and coordinate press conferences and other press coverage of Erlanger events.
Building and maintaining effective communication with hospital departments and physicians in order to determine story ideas and other items for publicity.
Keeping abreast of healthcare trends and sharing with team members and hospital leadership
Planning and supporting community events such as health fairs.
Assist the Senior Public Relations Manager with campaigns, media request, press conferences, town halls, and other events.
Works with social media to create digital content including blog writing.
