We’re looking for a talented and creative Cake Decorator to join our team at Erin McKenna’s Bakery. Key Responsibilities
- Decorate cakes, cupcakes, cookies, and pastries with precision and creativity, ensuring consistent, high-quality presentation.
- Prepare and package baked goods for customer orders and retail cases.
- Assist with production tasks, following recipes and established quality standards.
- Maintain a clean, organized work area while adhering to food-safety protocols.
- Collaborate with team members to fulfill catering orders, special requests, and seasonal designs.
- Use precise knife and piping skills to cut, level, and decorate cakes.
- Monitor ingredients and finished products for consistency, texture, and appearance.
- Follow strict sanitation, allergen, and cross-contamination procedures to ensure gluten-free, vegan, and kosher compliance.
Advanced Cake Design & Decoration
Candidates should be comfortable with:
- Stacking and supporting multi-layer cakes.
- Fondant work and sculpted details.
- Chocolate ganache finishes.
- Piping intricate buttercream flowers.
- Designing and executing wedding cakes.
- Drawing and creating designs with buttercream.
- Decorating cookies with vegan royal icing.
- Decorating gingerbread people.
- Building and decorating gingerbread houses.
Requirements
- Proven cake decorating experience with a portfolio or examples of your work.
- Background in food production or preparation; pastry/baking experience strongly preferred.
- Familiarity with gluten-free, vegan, and/or kosher principles is highly desirable.
- Strong customer-service and communication skills.
- Knowledge of food safety practices and regulations.
- Ability to work efficiently under pressure while maintaining attention to detail.
- Creative mindset with an eye for design, trends, and aesthetics in cake decoration.
- Previous kitchen or restaurant experience preferred.
- Open to current culinary arts students or recent graduates eager to build their skills.
