Night Keeper

Job Summary: Ensures the safety and security of the zoo after closing by patrolling the grounds, checking locks on doors and gates. Performs janitorial duties and other jobs as assigned.

The work hours for this position are typically 3PM-11PM; starting pay for this position will be $12.25-$12.50/hour depending upon experience

Duties and responsibilities:

· Makes rounds of grounds, checking assigned locks on the rotation schedule. Follow procedures if locks are not locked.

· Patrol grounds, making sure no one is on grounds without permission. Help with closing the zoo by informing guests of closing time and secures buildings.

· Report emergencies and problems according to procedures

· Check temperatures in assigned areas

· Washes dishes in the Diet Preparation area as needed

· Take garbage out of main building basement

· Do laundry in main building basement

· Haul hay, straw and feed according to the weekly schedule

· Stock supplies and clean in Main building basement

· Other duties as assigned

Skills and abilities: Dependable, strong verbal and written communication skills.

Education/experience: Background in security strongly preferred but not required.

Work environment: This position works outdoors in all types of weather and will work both indoors and outdoors.

Pay: $12.25 - $12.50 per hour

Expected hours: 30.0 – 45.0 per week
