Erie Yacht Club – Host/Busser / Food Runner
The Erie Yacht Club, established in 1895, is a highly respected yacht club located on the shores of Lake Erie and supports a membership of over 1,500. It is a premier destination for those who enjoy boating. Its members come from a diverse background, including sailors, racers, cruisers, and enthusiasts. With a year-round anchorage on Presque Isle Bay, members can participate in on-water activities and build strong bonds with each other. The club is well known for its rich traditions and hospitable atmosphere, making it a special place for yachting enthusiasts.
We are a yacht club looking for outgoing and competent staff to work in a fun and busy environment. Opportunities for part-time employment are available. Experience is not required—we are looking for people willing to learn and who have a drive to succeed.
Nights and weekend availability a must!
Compensation
- $10.00 per hour plus tip-outs from servers and bartenders. Total earnings may vary depending on volume of service and events.
Job Responsibilities and Requirements
Host / Hostess Responsibilities
- Greet members and guests in a friendly and professional manner upon arrival.
- Manage reservations and maintain accurate wait lists during busy service periods.
- Escort members and guests to their tables and provide menus.
- Coordinate seating with servers and management to ensure smooth and efficient service.
- Answer phone calls, assist with reservations, and provide information regarding club dining hours, events, and activities.
- Maintain the cleanliness and organization of the host stand and entrance areas.
- Assist with light administrative tasks related to reservations and dining service.
Busser / Food Runner Responsibilities
- Bussers and Food Runners are an essential part of the hospitality industry. They work alongside the wait staff and assist with delivering food to tables.
- Since they are the last ones to look at the dish before presenting it to a member, it is important they know what the dish should look like and check food for accuracy.
- Prepare soups and salads when required.
- May answer questions about menu items and club services when delivering food.
- Assist servers by clearing and resetting tables, refilling water glasses, and maintaining a clean dining environment.
- Transport trays of soiled dishes to designated areas.
- Must be efficient, detail-oriented, and courteous as they are in direct contact with members.
Additional Responsibilities
- Must be friendly and approachable to members and fellow employees.
- Must be able to adapt quickly and learn new menus in a timely manner.
- Set up and work events in a formal and banquet setting.
- Maintain a clean working area by sweeping, wiping down tables, and keeping service areas clean.
- Provide guidance to members on club activities, dining options, and general club or regional information.
- Work may take place in indoor or outdoor settings depending on service needs.
- Stock supplies such as ice, glassware, napkins, or straws.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
