Summary: Oversee the district’s efforts regarding attendance, discipline, social emotional health and well-being as aligned with Erie’s Public Schools Strategic Plan.
Reporting Relationship: Assistant Superintendent
Salary: $127,156.10 to $173,287.67
Essential Functions
- Plans, organizes, and directs the overall activities and operations of district student services around the vision of the EPS Strategic Plan.
- Develop district-wide written policies and procedures for student services.
- Oversee systemic implementation, monitoring fidelity, and establishing accountability cycles for Student Assistance Programs (SAP) across all schools.
- Implement and monitor the Early Warning Intervention and Monitoring System district-wide.
- Guides the implementation and monitoring of professional development and the planning/implementation process related to student services; monitors the use of interventions.
- Oversees root cause analysis regarding chronic absenteeism, discipline events, and course failure (including subgroups). Guides research and implementation of best practice strategies to support students and educators at all levels to remove barriers to learning and promote school safety. Reflect on current and prior practices to recommend adjustments to the strategies.
- Works with assistant principals to ensure SAP teams and blended case managers coordinate internal and external building level student supports.
- Oversees the partnerships with the United Way and assigned community partnerships. Facilitate the expansion of the Community Schools Model.
- Works with data analyst to review data trends and provide guidance to student assistance teams to meet social-emotional needs.
- Collaborates with administrators, directors, coordinators, supervisors, and teachers to exchange information regarding social emotional development and resolve issues or conflicts.
- Oversees the implementation and fidelity of Student Assistance Teams at all buildings. Supports school improvement plans (in line with developing SMART goals) to improve student attendance and behavior, creating a safe space for student learning and development.
- Assists building administrators through the Data Summit process/SMART goal cycles.
- Directs the development and preparation of the annual preliminary budget for student services, where applicable.
- Prepares and maintains a variety of reports and documentation related to student services.
- Designs and reviews supplemental social-emotional programming during the school year, as well as summer.
- Attends and conducts a variety of meetings and trainings; leads and serves on committees related to educational services and other assigned programs.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Education:
- Master’s degree in Education, Social Work, or Educational Administration.
Experience:
- 3-5 Years of Supervisory Experience
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Leadership skills including visioning, active listening, coaching, facilitation, and use of data for decision making.
- Understanding of Erie’s Public Schools Strategic Plan.
- Ability to prioritize resources for continuous improvement.
- Knowledge of current social emotional research, components of social emotional programming, and trauma informed care.
- Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
- Ability to develop effective working relationships.
