Position Summary
Under minimal supervision, provides advanced paralegal, administrative, and clerical support to trial attorneys in ERIE’s staff counsel office. - This range represents a national range and the actual salary will depend on several factors including the scope and complexity of the role and the skills, education, training, credentials, location (State) based on ERIE's geographical differences, and experience of an applicant, as well as level of role for which the successful candidate is hired. Position may be eligible for an annual bonus payment.

Position Summary
Under minimal supervision, provides advanced paralegal, administrative, and clerical support to trial attorneys in ERIE’s staff counsel office. Supports litigation matters from inception through resolution by managing case files, preparing legal documents, coordinating discovery, and assisting with trial preparation. This role also performs essential clerical and administrative tasks necessary for the efficient operation of the staff counsel office.
- There are multiple positions available.
- The position(s) will be based out of our Corporate Office in Erie, PA.
- The hiring team will consider candidates for Litigation Paralegal or Senior Litigation Paralegal positions. The level of position offered will be based on depth and breadth of selected candidates' qualifications and experience.
- Provides advanced litigation support to trial attorneys in insurance defense matters from case inception through resolution.
- Drafts, prepares, and assists with pleadings, motions, discovery requests and responses, subpoenas, correspondence, and other litigation documents.
- Coordinates discovery, including document management, obtaining authorizations, deposition scheduling, and preparation of summaries and exhibits.
- Conducts legal and factual research and summarizes findings for attorney review.
- Assists with trial, arbitration, and mediation preparation, including trial notebooks, exhibits, witness materials, and logistics.
- Performs clerical and administrative tasks such as calendaring, scanning, copying, mailing, scheduling, and maintaining litigation databases.
- Processes litigation-related invoices and expenses as directed.
- Manually or electronically files documents in state and federal courts and monitors deadlines to ensure compliance with court rules.
- Maintains and manages active and closed litigation files in accordance with records retention requirements. Communicates with claims professionals, insureds, experts, opposing counsel, and court personnel as directed.
- Serves as a resource to junior paralegals and legal support staff.

Minimum Educational Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Paralegal Studies and three years of litigation paralegal experience; or
- Associate degree in Paralegal Studies and five years of litigation paralegal experience; or
- High school diploma or equivalent and seven years of Paralegal experience required
- Six years of experience in a law firm, insurance staff counsel office, or corporate legal department preferred.
- Notary Public designation preferred or willingness to obtain.
