Adjunct teaching faculty provide instruction aligned with the college's mission and evaluate students' progress to facilitate achievement of their educational goals.

About the Position:

EC3 is seeking a Healthcare Simulation Technician for our Center of Health Sciences. This position will manage and operate healthcare simulation activities across nursing and allied health programs, ensuring high-quality, realistic simulation experiences that enhance student learning and clinical competency, preparing them for successful careers.

Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities

  • Prepare, set up, and operate simulation equipment, including mannequins, task trainers, and high-fidelity simulation technology.
  • Assist faculty in designing and facilitating simulation scenarios aligned with program learning outcomes
  • Maintain, troubleshoot, and perform routine checks on simulation equipment
  • Clean, store, and manage simulation inventory
  • Provide technical support during simulation sessions
  • Collaborate with faculty to integrate simulation into the curriculum
  • Collect and manage simulation data for debriefing sessions, student evaluations, and program assessments
  • Stay current with best practices in healthcare simulation and emerging technologies
  • As a member of the college community, faculty and staff should perform their professional responsibilities in accordance with the goals, missions, and plans of the department, program, division, and College, in addition to contributing to the creation of a collegial culture
  • All other duties as assigned.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Associate's degree in nursing, allied health, medical technology, healthcare simulation, or a related field
  • Minimum of (5) years' experience working in a healthcare or clinical setting
  • Minimum of (2) years' experience in healthcare simulation
  • Strong organizational and communication skills
  • Basic troubleshooting skills for simulation technology and software
  • Current BLS Certification

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree in nursing, allied health, healthcare simulation, or related field
  • Certified Healthcare Simulation Technician (CHSE) or willingness to pursue certification
  • Two years of teaching experience in a higher education setting is strongly preferred
  • Experience with Blackboard or a similar online Learning Management System preferred
  • Professionalism, student-oriented, ability to maintain confidentiality, practiced in written and oral communication, and exhibits good decision-making

Physical Demands of Position

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, crouch, bend, stretch, use steps, use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms, and talk or hear. The employee must regularly lift and/or move items: up to 10 pounds constantly, 30 lbs. frequently, and up to 50 lbs. occasionally. At clinical sites, faculty must be able to regularly lift and move patients using safe clinical practices and equipment. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, ability to adjust focus, and arm's length vision acuity. Must sit at a desk and use a computer with monitors at times.

Exposure to clinical environments that may include hospitals, long-term care facilities, outpatient clinics, and community health settings pose a potential exposure risk to bloodborne pathogens, infectious diseases, bodily fluids, and other biohazardous materials. Exposure to unpredictable patient behaviors and high-noise, high-stress environments is possible.

Varying hours and travel to off-campus clinical sites is required for this position. Ability to work flexible hours, either morning, afternoon, or evening sessions is required. Some weekends may apply.
