About the Role
EARS is hiring an Animal Care Supervisor to oversee the daily care of the rabbits in the shelter.
Responsibilities
Ensure that all shelter rabbits receive timely, appropriate care, including feeding and cage cleaning.
Monitor shelter rabbit health to identify potential medical issues; administer medical treatment, as needed, in conjunction with Medical Team; transport to veterinarian as needed
Interact with shelter visitors; answer questions about EARS, its mission and its practices; sell hay/pellets/other items as required.
Plan for, recruit, train, schedule and counsel volunteers.
Maintain a clean and organized shelter.
Location, Commitments and Compensation
Part-time, working-supervising position at the EARS shelter (2316 West 38th St., Erie, PA 16506)
Monday – Friday, approximately 20 hours/week (specific hours negotiable, 9am – 1pm preferred)
Some evenings and/or weekends, if needed
Hourly compensation commensurate with experience and qualifications
Candidate Requirements
Experience with rabbits preferred but not required
Must have excellent organizational and interpersonal skills
Must be able to multitask
Must have strong attention to detail and follow-through skills
Must be professional, flexible and able to handle sensitive situations with diplomacy and discretion
Must be energetic and team-oriented
Position includes bending, reaching and lifting. Candidate must be able to lift 25 lbs.
