POSITION: Teacher Aide (13 positions)
LOCATION: Transit Middle School (Summer School Special Education Program)
DATES: July 6 - August 14 (Monday through Friday for six weeks)
HOURS: 8:30am - 2:30pm

Split aide (assigned to both general education & PPS aide duties); UPK aide; Literacy aide; Primary Project aide; Health aide; Attendance aide - $0.50/hour
PPS aide; job coach aide - $1.50/hour

Experience And Requisite Skills And Knowledge
- Experience and ability to work with students, particularly students with physical disabilities and developmental delays.
- Willingness to assist non-ambulatory students and/or students with physical challenges (wheelchair transfer; restroom assistance and toileting; carrying books, backpack, etc.)
- Physical ability to execute job responsibilities to include transferring and/or lifting (such as assisting with manual transfer of student from seated to standing position, from one position to another, etc.).
- Willingness to gain knowledge of adaptive equipment and utilize such to support student access to instruction and/or environment.
- Ability to take directions from classroom teacher and/or related service providers.
- Ability and willingness to work as a member of a team.
- Willingness to implement student feeding plans.
- Willingness to support students in his/her attainment of IEP goals as per direction provided by the child's special education teacher.
- Flexible, patient and gentle manner.
- Ability to maintain student confidentiality.
- To provide close supervision of students during all transitions from sit to stand and during traveling throughout the school setting.
- To closely supervise students as they ambulate throughout the school environment.
- To give verbal cues and prompts, as well as physical assistance to students as needed.
- To clear pathways and assist students to negotiate a busy classroom setting.
- To provide assistance with lifting, as needed.
- To assist with personal care needs, including toileting and feeding, if needed.
- To provide assistance with learning tasks as directed by the classroom teacher and all related service providers
- Starting pay rate for Aides: $18.90/hour
