The Role We are seeking a passionate, collaborative, and highly skilled Integrated Co-Teacher (Special Education) to join our team. In this role, you will partner with a General Education teacher to implement an Integrated Co-Teaching (ICT) model. You will be responsible for implementing curriculum and accommodations, delivering specialized instruction, and fostering an inclusive environment that ensures all students meet high academic and social-emotional standards.

You will be responsible for implementing curriculum and accommodations, delivering specialized instruction, and fostering an inclusive environment that ensures all students meet high academic and social-emotional standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Co-Planning & Instruction: Partner with the General Education teacher to co-plan lessons that utilize diverse co-teaching models (e.g., station teaching, parallel teaching, team teaching) to meet the needs of all learners.
- Specialized Instruction: Deliver direct, specially designed instruction to students with IEPs within the general education classroom, as well as in small group settings when necessary.
- IEP Management: Serve as the primary case manager for a caseload of students. This includes drafting IEPs, conducting annual reviews, monitoring progress toward goals, and maintaining accurate, timely documentation.
- Data-Driven Decision Making: Use formal and informal assessment data to inform instructional strategies, adjust supports, and track student growth.
- Inclusive Environment: Facilitate a classroom culture that celebrates neurodiversity, fosters student independence, and maintains high expectations for all children.
- Collaboration: Communicate regularly with families, related service providers (speech, OT, PT), and school administrators to ensure a cohesive support network for students.
- Compliance: Ensure all classroom practices remain in full compliance with New York State Education Department (NYSED) regulations and IDEA mandates.
- Education: Bachelor's degree (Master's degree preferred).
- Certification: Valid New York State Certification in Students with Disabilities (SWD) Grades 1-6 or 7-12 commensurate with the specific vacancy level.
- Experience: Proven experience working in an urban school setting or with diverse student populations is highly valued.
- Collaboration: Exceptional interpersonal skills and a desire to work in a highly collaborative, team-oriented school environment.
- Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills for documentation and parent outreach, an ability to communicate effectively with students, parents, and colleagues.
