Qualifications Required
- Valid N.Y.S. Library Media Specialist certification
- Demonstrated success in the selection, review, acquisition, processing, and maintenance of both digital and print library resources
- Ability to integrate technology into instruction to enhance student learning
- Strong understanding of NYS Learning Standards and multiple forms of student assessment
- Working knowledge of literacy, writing instruction, and information literacy development
- Evidence of successfully designing and delivering professional development
- Ability to support students' social/emotional and academic needs
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills with students, staff, and families
- Proven ability to collaborate effectively with administration, faculty, and library staff
- Experience managing and maintaining a large inventory of school equipment and resources
- Working knowledge of OPALS, instructional technology tools, and digital media platforms
- Demonstrated commitment to active participation in the school community
- Knowledge of and ability to implement the AASL Standards Framework
- Manage and maintain the school library program, including print and digital collections
- Align library instruction and programming with the AASL Standards Framework to promote inquiry, inclusion, collaboration, curation, exploration, and engagement
- Collaborate with teachers to design and deliver integrated, standards-based instructional lessons
- Teach research skills, media literacy, and digital citizenship aligned with AASL competencies
- Support a welcoming, inclusive, and engaging library environment
- Maintain accurate records, inventory, and circulation systems
