Safety Coordinator

General Description:

The Safety Coordinator is responsible for administering and enhancing our Safety programs with the field and office teams.  This position ensures Safety remains a high priority throughout our various sites and represents the company to our team with regard to safety matters and communications.  The successful candidate will conduct thorough work and assist with meeting strict deadlines in the management of health and safety and training programs. 

Essential Duties:

• Conduct site safety inspections to ensure compliance with Safety protocols and procedures.
• Identify hazards and create safety awareness at the sites.
• Conducts and/or participates in accident investigations and submits reports as needed.
• Prepares root cause analysis and provides recommendations to minimize or prevent re-occurrence.
• Provides safety training and coaching in the field and via training sessions.
• Reports on audit results and provides corrective action recommendations.
• Implements strategies and recommendations for the elimination of unsafe practices.
• Proven time management and follow-through skills with the ability to work on multiple tasks with tight deadlines.
• Demonstrates tactful, mature and professional demeanor, with exceptional interpersonal skills, including the ability to work with diverse personnel.
• Maintains compliance with all safety regulations, according to both Cal & Fed OSHA.
• Other duties as assigned by management.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

• Three (3) or more years of experience with Safety Program administration in the Construction Industry.
• Bachelor’s Degree in construction, project management, or engineering preferred.
• OSHA 30 completed.
• Proficient with MS Office.
• Strong organization, record keeping and follow up skills.
• Experience with vehicle accident claims administration a plus.
• Ability to read, understand, interpret and apply Cal/OSHA and organization regulations and rules.

• Have full range of mobility in upper and lower body
• Be able to work in various positions including but not limited to stooping, standing, bending, sitting, kneeling and squatting for long periods of time
• Ability to lift push pull up to 100 pounds occasionally and as needed
• While performing the duties of this position, an employee is regularly required to work outdoors in rough/uneven terrain.
• Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus. Ability to lift, push, pull materials to complete assigned job tasks.
• Be able to use hands to finger, handle feel or operate objects, tools or controls and reach with hands and arms
