Job Duties
- Conduct thorough psychiatric evaluations, including patient history, mental status exams, and risk assessments.
- Develop and implement individualized treatment plans incorporating medication management, psychotherapy, and other therapeutic interventions.
- Prescribe and monitor psychotropic medications while ensuring adherence to best practices and safety protocols.
- Collaborate with physicians, therapists, social workers, and other healthcare professionals to coordinate comprehensive patient care.
- Utilize electronic health record (EHR) systems such as Practice Fusion for accurate documentation and medical records management.
- Provide patient education on mental health conditions, medication use, and lifestyle modifications to promote recovery and wellness.
- Participate in clinical research initiatives or quality improvement projects aimed at enhancing mental health services.
Experience
- Valid certification as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP BC/APRN) with active New York licensure.
- Demonstrated experience in behavioral health or psychiatric settings with exposure to acute care environments such as hospitals or trauma centers.
- Experience working with diverse populations including children, geriatrics, individuals with developmental disabilities, or those in assisted living or nursing home settings.
- Strong clinical judgment and ability to work independently
- Knowledge of psychopharmacology, CPT coding, ICD coding (ICD-10), and medication administration protocols.
