Duties
- Prepare treatment rooms with dental instruments, supplies, and sterilized equipment in accordance with infection prevention management protocols.
- Assist dentists during various procedures with chairside assisting techniques.
- Take dental x-rays, ensuring proper positioning and safety standards are maintained.
- Manage patient records using electronic medical record (EMR) system while adhering to HIPAA and clinical confidentiality policies.
- Provide patient care by taking vital signs, explaining procedures, and ensuring comfort throughout visits.
- Process dental instruments following sterilization procedures to maintain aseptic technique and infection control standards.
- Support front desk operations by coordinating patient scheduling, managing medical documentation, and assisting the dental receptionist as needed.
Skills
- Proficiency with dental software.
- Strong knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, and medical terminology relevant to general dentistry and specialized fields like oral surgery or pediatrics.
- Experience with dental equipment including X-ray machines, intraoral cameras (such as 3D scanners), and dental sterilization tools.
- Ability to perform dental x-ray procedures safely while following radiation safety guidelines.
- Skilled in infection prevention management practices including aseptic technique and infection control protocols.
- Excellent communication skills for patient education and team collaboration within a healthcare setting.
- Familiarity with healthcare infection prevention standards and medical coding for accurate documentation.
