High End Architectural Interior Designer
*Offices in Coeur d’Alene, ID and Kalispel, MT
Overview:
Join our dynamic architectural and interior design team as a High End Architectural Interior Designer, creating innovative, functional, and highly refined interior environments.
This position focuses primarily on high end custom residential projects and requires a strong combination of creative design ability, technical knowledge, organization, and project management. The successful candidate will be involved in the complete interior design process from initial concept and architectural coordination through hard finish selections, softgoods, furnishings, purchasing, construction administration, and final installation.
You will collaborate closely with clients, architects, consultants, contractors, vendors, and our internal design team to ensure every project is thoughtfully designed, thoroughly documented, properly procured, and successfully executed.
Responsibilities
- Interior Design & Concept Development — Develop comprehensive interior design concepts for high-end residential projects, incorporating client preferences, architectural character, functionality, and overall project vision.
- Hard Finish Selections & Specifications — Lead the selection and specification of flooring, tile, stone, countertops, cabinetry, plumbing fixtures, decorative lighting, hardware, wall finishes, paint, architectural details, and other interior materials.
- Softgoods & Furnishings — Select, specify, and coordinate furniture, fabrics, upholstery, window treatments, rugs, bedding, accessories, artwork, and other decorative elements to create complete and cohesive interiors.
- Purchasing & Procurement — Participate extensively in the purchasing process, including preparation of specifications, pricing, proposals, purchase orders, vendor coordination, order tracking, receiving, and resolving procurement issues.
- Installation & Project Completion — Coordinate and participate in furniture, artwork, accessory, softgoods, and final interior installations. Work closely with vendors, installers, contractors, and the project team to ensure the finished residence reflects the approved design vision.
- Construction Documentation — Prepare detailed interior architectural drawings, elevations, cabinetry and millwork details, finish plans, reflected ceiling plans, interior specifications, and other construction documents.
- 3D Modeling & Visualization — Create accurate models, presentations, and visualizations using AutoCAD, Revit, SketchUp, Adobe Creative Suite, and other design software to effectively communicate design concepts.
- Project Management — Manage multiple interior design projects from initial concept through design development, construction documentation, procurement, construction administration, and final installation.
- Construction Administration — Review shop drawings and submittals, respond to contractor questions, participate in site visits, coordinate field conditions, and assist in resolving design and construction issues.
- Lighting Design & Coordination — Collaborate on architectural and decorative lighting design, fixture selection, switching, controls, and coordination with electrical consultants and contractors.
- Client Communication — Work directly with clients to understand their vision, present design concepts and material selections, provide project updates, and incorporate feedback throughout the design process.
- Team Collaboration — Coordinate closely with architects, interior designers, consultants, contractors, craftspeople, manufacturers, and vendors to maintain consistency between the architecture, interiors, furnishings, and overall project vision.
Skills & Qualifications
- Strong experience in high-end residential interior design, custom homes, renovations, or luxury residential projects.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD and Revit, with the ability to produce accurate and detailed construction documents.
- Strong knowledge of SketchUp, Adobe Creative Suite, and presentation/visualization software.
- Experience with Building Information Modeling (BIM) and integrated architectural/interior design workflows.
- Thorough understanding of high-end interior design principles, including space planning, color, materials, lighting, furniture, softgoods, architectural detailing, and finish coordination.
- Strong knowledge of furniture, fabrics, textiles, stone, tile, cabinetry, plumbing, lighting, hardware, and other luxury residential products and materials.
- Experience with purchasing, procurement, vendor coordination, order tracking, receiving, and installation is highly preferred.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines while maintaining exceptional attention to detail, organization, and quality.
- Excellent client communication and presentation skills with the ability to professionally communicate design ideas and recommendations.
- Knowledge of construction methods and the ability to work directly with contractors, subcontractors, fabricators, and craftspeople.
- Hands-on experience with high-end residential construction, renovation, remodeling, furnishings, and installation is a strong plus.
The Role
This is a hands on, full scope interior design position. Candidates should be comfortable working beyond conceptual design and material selections. Hard finishes, softgoods, furnishings, purchasing, procurement, construction coordination, and final installation are significant components of this position.
