We are hiring for an SAP Sr Developer position in the Information Technology (IT) department responsible for driving SAP ABAP and S/4HANA development, architecture, and support across Ergon's SAP ERP landscape. This role transforms complex business requirements into robust technical solutions, drives innovation in SAP development, and mentors junior developers. The position is accountable for development on SAP ABAP and BTP Development platform.

SR ABAP Developer Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field (or equivalent experience)
• 7 years proven experience in SAP ABAP development, including advanced Object-Oriented ABAP and S/4HANA-specific programming
• Deep expertise in S/4HANA development, including CDS views, AMDP, OData services, and SAP Fiori/UI5 application development
• Experience with SAP BTP (Business Technology Platform), SAP Cloud Platform, and extensibility options
• Strong understanding of SAP core data structures, tables, and business processes
• Experience with BTP Development methodologies and Clean Core strategy.
• Proven track record in leading SAP development projects, solution architecture, and technical design
• Experience with SAP Fiori/UI5, including custom app development and SAP Launchpad configuration
• Proficiency in S/4HANA migration, system conversion, and adaptation of custom code for S/4HANA compatibility
• Experience with SAP HANA database, performance tuning, and SQL scripting
• Familiarity with DevOps, CI/CD pipelines, and automated testing in SAP environments
• Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills
• Experience mentoring and coaching junior developers
• Knowledge of Java, JavaScript, HTML5, and other relevant technologies beneficial
  
  

SR ABAP Developer Responsibilities

• Serve as the technical lead and subject matter expert for SAP ABAP and S/4HANA development
• Architect, design, and implement scalable solutions using S/4HANA technologies (CDS, AMDP, OData, Fiori/UI5)
• Lead code reviews, enforce SAP technical standards, and ensure best practices in development
• Drive modernization of SAP custom code for S/4HANA compatibility and performance optimization
• Oversee system performance tuning, troubleshooting, and optimization across SAP modules
• Collaborate with business stakeholders to translate complex requirements into technical solutions
• Manage operational support, change management, and on-call responsibilities for critical SAP systems
• Provide consulting and guidance on SAP innovation, upgrades, and digital transformation initiatives
• Mentor and develop junior team members, fostering a culture of continuous learning and improvement
• Ensure compliance with SLAs, security standards, and SAP governance policies
• Stay current with SAP technology trends, tools, and best practices
