Advisor

HSB Solomon Associates LLC (Solomon), a subsidiary of Hartford Steam Boiler and MunichRe, is seeking candidates for a Upstream Advisor position to work in a dynamic, fast-paced business environment. Basic Function

As an Advisor you will be responsible for client engagement, project management, benchmarking activities, maintaining technical integrity of projects for which they are responsible, and for providing expertise related to business performance and operations in the area of Upstream production operations. The Advisor will directly contribute to the success and profitability of Solomon’s core business, where engagements may be individual or in collaboration with other team members.

In this role, you will work as a client-facing advisor, an advisor to other client teams, and as a creative problem-solver that enables client success. The Advisor will have rounded expertise in multiple areas of onshore or offshore Upstream production operations. You will be expected to become proficient in Solomon’s benchmarking methodologies and studies that, when combined with industry experience, will develop a strong belief in the benefits Solomon’s unique approach provides to clients.

The position will be based in our Houston, Texas location.  Advisors are expected to participate in Solomon engagements at client locations worldwide, with associated travel (domestic and international) up to 15% of the time. T

Responsibilities

• Delivery
  • Collects, validates, and analyzes client data to ensure high-quality benchmarking results.
  • Develop insights, reports, presentations, and client deliverables.
  • Supports clients through quantitative analysis, research, modeling, and problem solving.
  • Contributes to the continuous improvement of Solomon analytical tools.
  • Develops subject matter expertise within assigned industry sectors and shares knowledge across the organization.
  • Supports project execution to ensure high standards of quality, client satisfaction, and operational excellence.
  • Supports maintenance and continuous improvement of benchmarking methodologies, study documentation and databases
  • Develops updates subject to review and approval per the Quality Assurance and Control procedures in place.

• Business Development

• • Apply a consultative approach to identify client challenges and support the development of tailored solutions that address client needs and create measurable value.
  • Contributes to the preparation of proposals, work scopes, and other client engagement documents.
  • Develops and strengthens client relationships by providing value-added technical and commercial insights regarding Solomon studies, products, and services.

• • Collaborate with commercial and delivery teams to develop solutions that are valuable to clients while remaining feasible, profitable, and aligned with Solomon capabilities and resources.
• Knowledge Management
  • Participates in Solomon communities of practice and contributes to knowledge sharing across the organization.
  • Identifies opportunities for product, methodology, and process improvements and contributes ideas to support innovation.
  • Shares industry knowledge, benchmarking insights, and best practices with colleagues to strengthen organizational expertise.

Education

• Required:

• • Bachelor's degree in engineering (Chemical, Mechanical, Process, Petroleum, or related engineering field)

• Preferred:

• • Master’s degree and/or advanced professional degree preferred (e.g., MBA, PhD, etc.)

Work Experience

• Required:

• • 8 years in the Upstream Energy Industry. Energy Operation or consultancy experience are equally valuable
  • Experience must include Fixed Platforms, FPSO’s and Floaters offshore production operations
  • Must possess sufficient industry knowledge and practical experience to understand the challenges facing offshore assets and engage credibly with client personnel.
• Preferred Experience: Experience within the preferred category is highly desirable and will be considered a strong advantage.

• Knowledge of engineering calculations and spreadsheet or database expert user
