We are seeking a reliable and organized Warehouse Transportation Dispatcher to coordinate daily transportation activities, ensuring shipments, drivers, and warehouse operations run safely and efficiently. The Dispatcher will serve as a key point of communication between drivers, warehouse personnel, customers, and management.
The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, able to prioritize multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment, and comfortable handling scheduling changes and unexpected transportation issues.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate and dispatch daily transportation routes and driver schedules.
- Schedule pickups, deliveries, transfers, and other transportation activities.
- Communicate with drivers throughout the day regarding routes, delivery instructions, delays, and schedule changes.
- Monitor driver locations, delivery progress, and estimated arrival times.
- Coordinate closely with warehouse personnel to ensure freight is ready for scheduled pickups and deliveries.
- Maintain accurate records of shipments, routes, driver assignments, and delivery status.
- Prepare and review transportation paperwork, including bills of lading, delivery receipts, and other required documentation.
- Respond quickly to delivery issues, vehicle problems, missed appointments, and other transportation-related concerns.
- Communicate professionally with customers, carriers, drivers, and internal departments.
- Help optimize routes and driver schedules to improve efficiency and minimize unnecessary transportation costs.
- Monitor compliance with company policies and applicable transportation and safety requirements.
- Assist with tracking equipment, vehicles, trailers, and other transportation resources.
- Enter and maintain transportation information in company systems and spreadsheets.
- Provide daily transportation updates and reports to management.
- Perform other warehouse and transportation-related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Previous experience in transportation, logistics, warehousing, dispatching, or a related field preferred.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to multitask and prioritize in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Comfortable working with computers, email, spreadsheets, and transportation or warehouse management systems.
- Ability to remain calm and professional when dealing with unexpected changes or time-sensitive situations.
- Ability to work effectively with drivers, warehouse employees, customers, and management.
- Knowledge of local delivery areas and transportation procedures is a plus.
Preferred Experience
- 1–3 years of experience in dispatch, transportation, logistics, or warehouse operations.
- Experience with routing or transportation management software.
- Familiarity with DOT regulations and transportation documentation.
- Experience coordinating multiple drivers, routes, and deliveries simultaneously.
Pay: From $45,000.00 per year
