As we continue to grow, we are seeking an experienced Inventory Lead to join our team at the Monee, IL distribution center. This role requires a strong understanding of inventory management processes, leadership abilities, and a proactive approach to maintaining inventory accuracy. The Inventory Lead will also be expected to back up the Inventory Manager as needed to ensure seamless operations.
Job Summary:
As the Inventory Lead, you will take ownership of day-to-day inventory management in the warehouse, overseeing inventory control processes, cycle counting, stock rotation, and issue resolution. You will also be responsible for leading a team of inventory staff and ensuring the efficient operation of the warehouse. In the absence of the Inventory Manager, you will step into a leadership role, managing inventory operations and leading the team to maintain accuracy and efficiency.
Key Responsibilities:
Inventory Management & Leadership:
- Lead Inventory Operations: Oversee daily inventory tasks, including cycle counting, receiving, stocking, and stock rotation, to ensure inventory accuracy and consistency.
- Team Supervision: Supervise inventory staff, providing guidance, training, and support to ensure tasks are completed efficiently and in compliance with company procedures.
- Inventory Reconciliation: Identify and resolve discrepancies between physical inventory and system records. Take corrective actions to address issues and maintain inventory accuracy.
- Stock Rotation: Collaborate with leadership to implement and manage an effective stock rotation process to prevent product expiration and reduce waste.
- Non-Conforming Product Management: Manage the handling of suspect or non-conforming products, ensuring that these items are properly quarantined and assessed for disposition.
Backup to Inventory Manager:
- Acting Inventory Manager: In the absence of the Inventory Manager, take on a leadership role, overseeing the daily operations of the inventory department and providing guidance to the team.
- Leadership Support: Support the Inventory Manager in developing and implementing inventory strategies, policies, and procedures.
- Reporting & Documentation: Assist with inventory-related reports, including discrepancies, audits, and performance metrics, ensuring timely and accurate documentation.
- Problem-Solving: Resolve complex inventory issues and provide guidance to team members in troubleshooting and addressing challenges.
Operational Efficiency & Process Improvement:
- Process Optimization: Identify opportunities for improving inventory management processes, workflow, and efficiency, and collaborate with leadership to implement changes.
- Training & Development: Assist in the training of new staff on inventory procedures, warehouse management systems, and safety standards.
- Audits & Compliance: Participate in regular inventory audits, ensuring adherence to company policies, industry standards, and safety regulations.
General Warehouse Responsibilities:
- Forklift Operation: Operate forklifts and other warehouse equipment safely to move materials as needed.
- Physical Demands: Lift, carry, and move up to 50 pounds as required, and remain on your feet for extended periods of time.
- Maintain Cleanliness: Ensure the warehouse remains clean, organized, and safe by adhering to safety protocols and best practices.
Required Qualifications:
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent required. Associate’s degree or relevant certifications in inventory management or logistics is a plus.
- Experience:
- At least 2 years of experience in inventory control or warehouse management.
- At least 1 year of experience in a leadership or supervisory role, overseeing inventory operations or warehouse teams.
- Proficiency in operating a forklift and other warehouse equipment.
- Skills:
- Excellent organizational and leadership skills.
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
- Ability to perform basic math and use a calculator for inventory adjustments and discrepancies.
- Excellent communication skills to interact with team members, leadership, and other departments.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to work on your feet for extended periods.
- Ability to safely operate forklifts and other warehouse machinery.

Work Environment:

- Schedule: Full-time, 8-hour shifts, Monday to Friday (7:00AM-3:00PM).
Additional Information:
This is an on-site position with no remote work available. As an Inventory Lead, you will be expected to manage the daily operations of the inventory team, step in as the Inventory Manager when needed, and contribute to the continuous improvement of our warehouse processes. Your leadership and attention to detail will be key in maintaining accurate inventory levels and ensuring smooth warehouse operations.
